Hypocritical Gay People

okay, first of all, i'm gay, so let's get that out of the way so people don't flood me with bad karma telling me i'm a homophobe.

recently i've been running into a lot of gay people who say things like "oh man, i hate straight people they're so close-minded".

i don't get it. do they not see that they're being about as hypocritical as they can?

the majority of my friends are straight and guess what?! straight people do the same things as gay people! it's crazy i know, but just go with me here for a minute.

i don't understand when gay people totally shut out the 'straight' world. i don't even understand this whole 'two worlds' thing they keep talking about? isn't that what we're trying to get rid of?

Kinda funny you say that... one of my Gay friends is a funny guy. The other day he's like "I fucking hate GAY gay people.... I'd much rather teardown the engine on my Firebird than go Shopping... fuck... pass me a Beer..." He's a cool guy, he'll change every 45 minutes and work on his car in like a $200 shirt, but he's awesome to hang out with. That and he's got a nice Car.

I really dont agree with straight or gay ppl going off aobut one or the other I think ppl should be happy for one and other no matter what life choices they make....its for them to live and not the hole world.

I think you're totally right.

That said, its helpful not to forget that everyone is a hyppocrite in one way or another or at one time or another. I also think that people speaking from a minority position might have had a lot more experiences that have led them to 'hate' the dominant group. While we've certainly got the right to disagree, and to try and convince someone differently, its difficult to criticize someone's point of view when it is heavily infulenced by personal experiences..

i totally understand that a lot of this 'straight hate' is coming from years of gay bashing or whatever. but you can't fight fire with fire, right? sure it sucks, but people have to learn to rise above it and just continue on with their lives.

hating straight people is only going to give the homophobes more fuel.

Like I said man, I agree with you.

But I think the key to changing peoples minds is to start by trying to understand why they hold the opinions they do. Sometimes you still can't get anywhere once you get to that point - and thats a shitty reality. But at least you can communicate then.

communication is a good thing, i agree.

i asked my friend why he 'hated straight people' and his reply was: "i dunno, they're just gross", which to me is a pretty weak reason. i'm sure there is something else underlying it that he's not telling me, however that's his front.
