Boston Public + E + Rave = Quality TV
Fox's drama Boston Public aired an interesting episode tonight. One of the issues in the episode was that one of the students had overdosed on extasy during class. The teacher who found out about it decides to rant to his students about how bad raves and e are. One of the students, who happens to be the daughter of the principal, defends the scene saying its fun and not everyone "rolls". :375: Later in the show they find out that the dude didnt take E, but actually took PMA. The show then cuts to a scene when she and her friends are at a rave. [side note] American's at parties dance like there at a club and so many hardcore plur people in the scene. :219: [/end side note] Anyways, the daugher is stopped after going through a red light and the cops decide to send her home because they found EZ-Test extasy tester in her car. Then the show takes a weird turn, the father decides to start yelling. Why do u take drugs, raves are bad, blah blah. Then the daughter says she goes to raves cuz shes unhappy. Unhappy cuz her parents divorced.
This showed depicted ravingin a more believable manner than other shows, but no show has gotten it 100% right. First off, who is stupid enough to take PMA, let alone E during school. Hmmm. I don't know, maybe its just me, but I don't see that happen very often. If there gonna shoot a rave scene, why not get real dancers. Course maybe thats just a dream of mine to see real ravers on a show. Ha Ha Ha! :Power-P: Is it not good for someone to have a EZ-Tester to test out what they have rather than taking it blindy. I dont know. :375: And finally, wow, seems like the parents were to blame for her going to raves. Hmmmm. Don't know what to say about this. It's late and im just ranting. |

Maybe on tv it's exxagerated a little and the person like falls down and like fucking starts flailing around the ground or something.. that's stupid.. but ppl DO fall down and start kinda seizuring when they OD... Not always... but sometimes it does happen.. |

a friend of mine was taken away on a stretcher because she over dosed on E during school. that was in 1995, way before any of us in highschool knew what e really was. so it *does* happen.
last week a toronto girl over dosed and dyed in an internet cafe after popping a few caps of e. so there ya go...... as for tv getting it "right", i think the closest i've ever seen was an episode of My so called life (aired 1994 or 1995) that featured Rayanne over dosing at her house party after popping a few caps while consuming alcohol. it had nothing ot do with raves and everything to do with lack of education regarding a popular drug. as for EZ testers~ i believe they should be banned. people shouldn't be so stupid as to think that these testers are reliable. think about it: not only does it only tell you if MDMA is present~ not what else is present, but it's purely subjective. every human being perceives the colour spectrum differently. what is a particular shade or tone of blue to me, might be more greenish to you. that's the flaw in the test. also~ Ez testes are performed in usually contaminated environments, with un-sterile instruments. also, the light that you observe the colour changes of the kit is rarely a full spectrum. only under a complete spectrum with no contaminating incident light can the test be considered "accurate". however~ the tests are usually performed under lights that are too green (neon lights) or too orange (murcury vapour, hallogen lights), etc. if you put your faith in an ecstasy tester kit, you're about as stupid as they come. silverfish ~L7~ http://members.fotki.com/silverfish |

response to dj4mula:
you obviously didn't read why i said e testing kits are a bad idea. pure mdma is infact, more harmfull than the shit you kids are popping here, according to toxicologists. obviously people shouldn't be doing it period. but testing kits are FALSE assurences. you might as well do a tarot card reading to see if the pill is "pure" or not. it's about the same. do your homework, kid. this might help you out a bit: it's a link to the e tester kit debate first published 2-3 years ago. http://www.vancourier.com/12200/top3.htm also, follow the links on my website for more info: http://members.fotki.com/silverfish |

It is a false assurance, but what solution is there? Legalizing Extacy? Banning parties? Either way E will be taken. I just think if the drug is gonna be taken, might as well do something to lower the change of getting PMA or some other substitute.
PS - Nice site, so many pictures. :Power-P: |
