^^^however their executive makes a VERY comfortable amount of money myra...
--- to the originator of this post --> I don't like the SPCA but they would be providing you a service, that costs money... you need to pay for it, they are not a funding organization -- there are others (i think one is called AID to ANIMALS) which will provide money to low income earners and people on diabilities... most vets would have a list of them. side note -- the ironic thing about this is that if you dropped this cat off at the SPCA as a surrender they would have killed it as it would be unadoptable in their mind... (their no-kill policy has many, many loop holes) to discord -- in regards to the shelter that did not take in strays -- i've never heard of this place? where abouts is it? I know at my shelter we don't necessarily take in cats with open arms as we are always overfull -- we try to encourage and help the finder/owner to place the cat on their own... although i'm sure it comes across that we don't want to take there cat a lot of the time... but we would much prefer to get the cat than have it go to the SPCA as if it gets a cold or anything at the SPCA, it would be put down. |

spca is hella ghetto. they get piss poor funding. ldub: what does the amount of money the executive make have to do with this? these people need to make a living too. if we cut all their wages, there will be no one willing to accept these positions. simple as that. and seriously, whoever owned this cat, as said by charly, if you can't afford a pet, don't have one. they are a privilege not a right. |

thats absolutely horrible that the cat had to suffer, but you do have to realize that putting it to sleep costs money for the SPCA. I used to work ata vet and $50 is actually not that high ofa price compared to the vet costs for putting an animal to sleep. (people don't get pissy for me saying this) even though the SPCA can be assholes and it sucks that the cat has to suffer there are the costs of the supplies etc used to do the job and that money has to come from somewhere. I'm glad that they got the money though :D
