PR, and because technically they are a CLEC (competitive local exchange carrier or something like that...) if you transferred your number there, you can take it to local land line again... if you got your number with cityFIDO however, they can deny you taking the number away but if they do that, again bad
PR. It's not as though you are stuck with them. Give it a little time and I'm sure most mobility carriers will become a CLEC -- and competition will no longer be about getting customers the first time, but keeping their business.
I'm still kinda shocked that Rogers made a bid while they are still trying to help sell the 30%+ that at&t wireless owns... it may make them stronger in .the end, but it's going to be an uphill battle at first Apparently their shares dropped when the rumors started.
[edit] about CLEC carriers - most local carriers (except TELUS in West, and BELL in the East and some other packages and plans) can also raise your prices without notice as they are not tariffed.
