US presidential debate
Well what did you all think..
From what I saw the last half of it I think Bush personally took it to Kerry abit. Reasons being:: He nailed Kerry on the flip floppyness of his campaign stating that America needs a strong president. This I feel is true America does need a strong president I wish the democrats would of choosen a more stick to his ideals kinda guy.. Also, I think Bush came off as more of a people person then Kerry did Kerry looked tense through the whole thing Bush seemed calm and collected.. Also, Bush's shots at Kerry where a little more subtle at times.. This is why I think the American voters will once again elect Bush hopfully in his second term he fixes his fuckups.. |

I admit Bush is a very direct leader. He repeated the fact that you cant' just throw your hands up and say "oops, we got to leave now" in Iraq; however, there would not have been this problem if Bush himself didn’t' jump in the first place.
Plus I had started to think about the idea of US tanning a nation that might [in the end] be their biggest enemy if power ever was to flip-flop. I mean they trained the original Taliban, look what that brought them. |

You would be surprised most people are predicting it will happen.. Kerry just doesnt stand on his issues enough to swing the amount of voters needed it is looking like.. It will also be interesting to see what the polls look like after tonight..

i'm actually on the verge of outrage fatigue. this administration has done so much stuff, i don't even have the energy or drive to get pissed off. they have blatantly lied to the people they claim to protect and serve again and again.
if the american public "elects" bush again, fuck them, i hope they continue the downward spiral that has been the last 4 years right into the ground. they deserve what they get. in another 4 years the patriot act will have so many additions to it, you'd be able to rape someone and claim THEY commited the act of not consenting fast enough. or just the good ol' "put them in a cell for as long as we want without committing a crime" i wish i could truly be apathetic, but since we live in american jr, we're fucked too. just on a slightly slower scale. |

Bill Maher hit the nail on the head when he said that alot of the American public just isn't educated enough about politics and thats why Bush is doing so well. He said that it seems to him that people always fall back on the "strong president" thing when they don't know the issues at hand. A strong president would recognize his mistakes, and do what has to be done to fix them. Bush can babble about how he isn't going to change his ideals all he wants but if his ideals are wrong then what?

here is the Maher quote
MAHER: That's so true. I talk to people all the time in different places – okay, bars [laughter]—where you're talking to people who you realize are not very politically savvy. They get it that I'm somehow involved in politics, so they come up to me –[laughs]—but I can tell – and these are people who really should be liberal, because, you know, they're in bars. You know—[laughter]—Right. But they're like, “Well, man, you know, I think we need somebody strong like Bush right now.” You know, it's like that's how it's broken down to the people who don't follow it. And of course, this is the “a little learning is a dangerous thing” administration. They depend on people having a very little amount of learning. |

In the long run this debate meant very little as campaigning comes. I'd venture that most Americans have made their minds up as to who they want to vote for. This whole election is a morals based one.... anyone who is right-winged Christian faith will vote Bush. Obviously on the other end of the spectrum the left leaning will vote Kerry.
Bush's most hyped up campaign promises are strengthening military for homeland defense, and standing up for Chrsitian morals (ie:ban gay marriages). BTW.... that was defeated in the senate yesterday too... he'll obviously try again. Kerry is playing the nice guy routine, although he comes off as a bit too wishy-washy on important issues. He obviously plays a little more towards the anti-war activists. He makes a lot of references to 'Hey, I've been there and I know how horrible it is. Lets bring our kids home' Personally, I'm hoping Kerry pulls through on top. I think he has the right idea when it comes to making allies as opposed to enemies. He realizes how much the US is hated on the international stage. Bush, from what I gather, really coould care less. Last edited by Cdn_Brdr; Oct 01, 04 at 11:52 PM. |

^Dude that's pretty far reaching though.....
A family tree analysis indicates that President Bush, at left, and his front-running Democratic challenger, John Kerry, are 16th cousins, three times removed. Such links aren't all that unusual, genealogy buffs say. |

Oddly enough I actually found myself watching the US Presidential debate. I normally would never since Bush actually makes me angry, but I wanted to know more about the person who's running against him. I really hope Kerry wins, because I honestly believe what Bush is capable of is scary and although I don't live in that country I live close enough to possibly be effected.
