3 in the communications desktop (IRC, ICQ, GAIM)
2+ in the p2p desktop (one Nicotine client, a terminal window and one window for every torrent currently active)
4 in the Media desktop (xine, a terminal window for Mplayer, XMMS, Rhythmbox)
And whatever I have in the working desktop (Normally at least Firefox, a terminal window, and anybody msging me on MSN at the time.)

Plus, vc1 is usually reserved CD Ripping, vc2 for encoding, vc3 for file management post-rip/encode...

And yes, I do use all of these windows simultaneously all the time.

And that's if I'm not doing much.

It's cool to have an OS that _can_ multitask, no?

You wouldn't have 20 browser windows open if you use mozilla. doom knows where its at.. multi tabbed browsing is a great thing. not to mention firebird/firefox etc are way faster browsers than IE
