Carpe Diem
Did you ever seize the day (Carpe Diem)?
One time when I went camping with my family and two friends to Loon Lake Resort, I was swimming in the water and some lady parked her car on a hill facing the water and left a baby in the cab. I guess the baby accidently put the truck in gear and it started rolling down the hill towards the water. I saw this and tried to stop the truck, but the doors were locked and my friends ran to get the lady. Time was running out and the truck was getting closer to the water so I jumped on the back of the truck and tried to open the window but the window was locked. The front of the truck was in the water, so I decided to break the back window. I punched through the window and broke it as well as cutting up my hand pretty bad. I reached in for the baby and pulled it out, jumped out of the truck already in the water and took it safely to shore and watched the truck go under the water as the lady was running and screaming towards me. See was mad that she lost her truck, but greatful that I saved her baby. I got bandaged up and later learned that the lady was one of the owners of the resort and she let me, my family and my two friends go horse back riding for free for the whole week as many times as we wanted too. That's my experiance in seizing the day. |

Meh, I wouldn't call myself a hero, the real hero's are the NYFD and NYPD who were saving lives during 9/11. I just saw a car going into the water and was like oh shitty deal, but when I saw the baby in the truck the only thing that ran through my head was saving it and nothing else mattered at the time.
When the baby girl turned 6 years old she sent me a picture of herself and me holding her during the time I was there and under it she wrote my hero and when I got that I felt so nice and that made everything worth it. I didn't even want anything for saving her nor did I expect to get anything, horse back riding was so much fun though, usually it costs $35 a hour there and we got it all for free, so that was nice of the mom to do that. I had so much fun there and so many memories, Loon Lake Resort is the best. |
