Canada vs USA War imminent....
Trade war looming, warns B.C. minister
VANCOUVER - B.C. Forests Minister Mike de Jong says the latest U.S. move in the softwood lumber fight could lead to an all-out trade war. Montana Senator Max Baucus is about to introduce a bill that would allow billions of dollars in lumber duties from Canadian companies to be given to U.S. forest companies. De Jong says if Baucus's bill passes Canada will have no choice but to retaliate. "You can't steal $4 billion from a country and not expect that there would be repercussions." He says he and his federal counterpart are now talking about what kind of retaliation Canada might take if the bill passes. And he says one of the options includes stopping energy exports to the U.S., "I'm just making the obvious point that if the U.S. Congress and the White House sanction the theft of this money, there will be Canadians across the country arguing it is time to make that linkage, and to other products as well." The U.S. says Canadian provinces subsidized lumber exports, and imposed a 27-per-cent duty back in 2002. Since then, international trade regulators have repeatedly ruled against the U.S. collection of these duties. * FROM AUG. 31, 2004: Major softwood win for Canada De Jong says they've already cost Canadian jobs, and he says if this bill passes it will lead to a full-scale trade war. "No one wins in that kind of scenario and that's why the U.S. and their legislators should think very carefully before embracing what is to my mind an indefensible and irrational proposition." Sources in Senator Baucus's office say he's planning to introduce the bil on Tuesday. http://vancouver.cbc.ca/regionalnews...r20041115.html time to play on/off lightswitch rave to the entire American Westcoast... So if it comes to the States invading Canada, do you think the world is going to sit by and let it happen? I think Canada should stop all export of energy, lumber and whatever else they take of ours, let them fend for themselves. There government is whack! I remember how mad Bush was when they lost power in New York and the eastern sea board...all our fault he said....hahahahahahahaha we have the power, to turn off the power.
No offence to all you state side party kids! |

The Canadian lumber companies were stupid to pay the duties.
They should have kept the lumber prices the same and left it up to the lumber buyers from the USA to pay those duties to their government, and to complain to their government about it. We buy all kinds of stuff from the USA and then get shafted. Same thing with beef cattle. Ashes - see if you can do something about this. Figure out what kinda stuff we should boycott. Big Macs, Victoria's Secret or something. |
