my real name is "Gisèlle" .. how i got that name... wen my mom was little and lived in Angola (in africa) she saw this ballet.. called "Gisèlle" and she LOVED it...

the english way of spelling it is Gisele.. but since it was named after the ballet.. which was a french ballet.. they went w/ Gisèlle...
in portuguese its translated to Gisèlla..

it was either that or Jasmine... wen my mom told me that.. i was like.. GREAT.. if u named me that kids would start going "arabian niiiiiiiiiiiiiight.. like arabian daaaaaaaays *insert annoying singing voice here*"

i used to get teased alot w/ the name Gisèlle, plus ppl couldnt pronounce it properly.... wen i was in about gr 3? my bro gave me the nickname Gia.. i always spelt it G.A ... didnt really use it... then i moved to BC and i decided to use it... so yeah :) thats my little story..

o ya.. i would have a middle name "Maria" .. but my parents not to do so.. because my name is already long as it is.. and they had problems fitting my brother's names into like medical cards and all that.. lol

GEELOW! Gia you never told me that. PS that ballet was awesome. It made me cry. Beautiful name though. You should use it more. Gia is short and sweet though. Reminds me of the movie.

where those fields of stumps,
they beckon to me!

im glad to see you!
tell me, how be you!
'cause im from bevan too!

(thats just the chorus, i dont remember the rest of the words)

haha i cant beleive i never told anyone this before! i almost forgot how important i was!

The epic tale of my naming

My first name, Nevada, was given to me by my Mum. There are many reasons:

-At the time my mum was preggers, there was a song called "I think I'll take my chances in Nevada"
-My parents watched an old western movie about a Gunslinger called "Nevada Smith"
-I have a boring last name (Jones) so my parents wanted to give me an original first name
-My Daddy used to like in Lake Tahoe, Nevada

But the biggest reason is that after all that My Mum found it in a baby book and it's a spanish word, for snow. Like a white out where everything is covered in snow (thats why I have a snowflake tattoo on my lower back).

When I was younger I wanted a more generic name, but now I really like it. I've actually met a couple other Nevadas, and another Nevada Jones (a guy).

My middle name, May, comes from my Daddy who was holding me in the hospital when I ws born and said, "Nevada may have whatever she wants. Nevada May, I like that!"

My parents were listening to the radio and the "eye in the sky" weather or news...something like that (assuming that it was broadcast from a helicopter or such). The reporter's name was Taralyn. My mom loved it. :)

The cool thing is that I want to get into the broadcast journalism field. Coincidence?

Exactly the same! However my middle name was given to me because it was my Great Grandfathers middle name!

well my first name is Dominique, my parents chose it because they thought it was fairly unique and I guess they liked the way it sounds..
my middle name Shadi (the one I more commonly go by) means "happiness" in Iranian. My moms best friend suggested it and my mom loved it so it stayed.

My family is Swedish and I was named after some nobleman in our family line named Andreas Von Koenigsmark who was a total badass and tried to Christianize parts of Europe or something. However, when my great-grandfather came to Canada he dropped the 'Von' part because it was a little vain. :(

People are right when they ask like the song? "Rhiannon"

Yes my parents were Fleetwood Mac fans... But my mom wanted to give her kids a unique name and also reflects our Celtic/Welsh background as Rhiannon was a folk tale about about a princess who road on her horse and loved birds or somthing?

Bev: Im gonna get to call you pomy Beverley! Thats a lie your sister is named kimberly... wow :P

I was named after the MAN in Gone With The Wind. My parents somehow thought they were being real original, however, i have met tonz of girls my age with the same name, so they weren't really.

But hey, I have grown to like my name. And my middle name is after my mother, and I like it too.

Ashlee Rose.

PS>>Rhianna> My mom loved that Fleetwood song too and i very NEARLY got that name as well, only, unfortunately for me it wouldn't have got the nice update to rhianna... and i don't think it woulda fit me ANYwayz....

Niamh
From a old Irish myth. My mom and dad were reading a book together and when they saw my name they thought wow....
when they were in the hospital one of the nurses asked them what my name was going to be and they said (niamh pronounced niam-ha at the time) and the woman laughed at them and said "You dont even know how to pronounce your own daughters name! its Niamh (pronounced neeve)" yup... thats my story....

Hmm. but you can't really do much with 'Koenigsmark' to make it sound more British.

There's no story to why my name is Ryan, I guess they just liked the name. I was almost named Ralph, after my grandpa, though, so I kind of lucked out there.
