World Peace
What's it going to take people?
Democracy? Dissolution of nation-states? Global raver ethic? Aliens arriving? A World-Wide Westside? Personally, I think ignorance is the greatest weakness of humanity. Each of us struggle with it on a daily basis. If everyone was educated, became open to new forms of knowledge; if they learned, understood and respected difference; if they could embrace uncertainty and recognize their own personal failings; if they accepted that life is a learning process - then violence would cease. Well baring a nuclear incident wiping out civilization, which is possible, I think that world peace would take many things to be achieved. I think that at the base of it would have to be the realization that this is a small planet and that if we don't coperate we're not going to be around all that much longer. I think that a big part of the solution could be the colapse of the US empire, that could also be a huge problem if China and not the EU became the next super power. In short human rights, which are also environmental rights need to be respected. While it might seem highly impossible or unlikely that this could ever happen it is possible. The EU has been one of the most war torn continents throughout history but has now turned the corner in that regard.
At the same time crime, and coruption will never go away. War, genocide, and starvation are preventable though.

It would take a fundamental change in the way that people think.
It would go something like this: Say your best friend asks you to help them build a shed. Since they are your best friend, you have no problem helping them. Your bestfriend is grateful and gives you beer/cooks you dinner/helps you with your shed/etc... Now imagine if each one of us could extend that type of caring to everyone, everywhere. You would go out of your way to help each other, even if they are total strangers...Get that kind of mindset going and you could possibly achieve world peace...
