I staid nearly 24hours for not giving my identity that was a few years ago and there not alowed to keep you any longer under the age of 18(I don't know how long they can keep you over 18 but it will surly be much longer) ...Just cause there was a general crowed messing with the cops...! They just throw people on the flour like pieces of shit, and have no respect for you(even if you wern't the one messing it all up, they still suspect you, just cause you were near, and helping your friends out) Last edited by maztraz; Dec 13, 04 at 07:45 AM. |

I'd rather get black listed and beaten by the cops rather then let an illegal act go unchecked. So it happens once here,,, where does it stop. Or more so, when does it stop? Where do you think we should draw the lines. Why should we ignore the checks and balances of the system. Tell me what should be done about it, because hidding like a pussy is not going to help any one.
Yes I'm fuck serious,,, we even have audio clip of what was being said. (the video of the image was blocked by the police) There is a ton of witness too. It was so fucking rough, that's why I'm sick. And even if the guy had shit going for the past 5 years, we have LAWS on how to haddle issues like this; and beating people is not part of it. Don't be an idiot because I'm sure if you got hit you'd want people to help you. Quote:

my dad was in a LEGAL protest in toronto on six foot high stilts wearing a big Devil suit trying to get Mel lastman out of whatever. the cop Grabbed his stilt twisted it around and made him fall (he hit a electircal pole while trying to twist around avoiding hitting other protesters). Then later on in the day my dad went Found this cop because he wanted his badge number so he could make a complaint! the Cop Hit him in the face and then proceeded to arrest him for assaulting a police officer! Sadly for that fucking moron (WOO HOO for my dad) every single encounter they had was on video because it was a public event! Yes Some cops will go out and beat the shit out of people FOR NO reasone other than they are pissed and want to release angry Nrg |

you know why they beat up people sometimes? how would you like to deal with a cracked out person ? like, they have to deal with crackheads and shit, crackheads have nothing to live for besides crack, they have nothing to loose, if they come at you with a knife or whatever, there going to try and kill you, what would you do if you were a cop? read him his rights? fuck no , you would have a needle in your neck before you could say silent, ide beat the shit out of him

i personally know three people who the vancouver police department beat with no good reason. one was a guy who was sleeping drunk at the small restaurant he chefed at downtown after a concert because he didn't want to drive home and he had to be at work early anyways...someone saw him inside and called the cops. they figured that he was some homeless guy who broke in to sleep and they beat him so bad he was in the hospital for over a month, lost his spleen, lost teeth, broken ribs, just one solid bruise, and i think he's still on disability. the whole time he was saying "wait, wait" and trying to explain...another is a friend of mine, a girl who tried to intervene when she saw the cops improperly restraining another (admittedly) drunk girl...they pushed her to the ground and broke her collarbone, then threw her in jail. ..it's no secret that the vpd (as opposed to the rcmp who police the rest of the lower mainland and have higher standards of training and recruitment) have some serious problems with their use of force and the accountability of it's officers, it's almost become standard practice for the to withhold their ID numbers when dealing with any kind of complaintant on the street, so what does that say about accountability? and what about the native guy they DRAGGED out of the drunk tank barely concious, unable to even stand, obviously unable to look after himself and soaking wet and dumped in an alley in the cold and rain where he died of exposure....there's still no vpd officer who's even been reprimanded for that as for as i know, and let's face it they straight up killed the guy.
there are really only two ways of looking at this, one that becuase cops are there to enforce the laws, and it's a hard job that we should look the other way when they violate them, and two that because cops enforce the law they should be held to a higher standard of behaviour...i personally agree with the latter |
