Look plain and simple real life can and often is messy. If you want to poke holes in systems that have worked to a better or worse extent but have proven themselves over many years go ahead. Honestly though all your opinions about libertarianism are no more grounded in reality than the fairy tales your parents read to you when you were a little kid. The whole concept is like you said based on every one respecting and trusting each other. In some cases on a small scale this could be effective but for building a sky train route, or a free way?

In Toronto private contractors opened up their own road that pretty much cut through the gridlock mess. People would purchase little barcoded stickers attached to their bumpers that were like little credit cards that were scanned every time the cars entered the onramp. If they didn't purchase the stickers the highspeed cameras would snap a photo of their license plate and the bill would be mailed to their house later.

The thing works great. It's like having another HOV lane, and tons of people use it.

Judging by the bad karma you gave me, you sound like a socialist. so this is what a liberal arts education gets you these days.

Their goal is to satisfy the clients, who in turn want to make a secure and happy experience for the people who enter the City so they'll spend more money.

A publicly 'owned' police force has a less clear mandate. Their income is guaranteed and they don't get points for being courteous. Under our system if you get your ass kicked, your only recourse is to file a complaint which probably gets lost in the shuffle. Whereas with a private security force, the complaints are taken much more seriously (they depend on customer satisfaction :)) and they're probably cheaper too.
private security has no standard of accountability.
they can be even more abusive than bad cops.
there's much concern
over this issue right now.

When it comes to private security securing private property then I see nothing wrong with it. If you don't like being hassled, don't step foot on the property.

While I appreciate the compliment I'm not a socialist and I don't have a liberal arts degree. To over simplify I believe in social democracy otherwise known as Canada. That's not to say that we don't have a lot of things that could be improved. So in short if you want to pigeon hole me I'm centrist.

Well here is your explanation...
Simply cause you are puting someone in a category(as in socialists)
And before realizing maybe theres things that you've said that might still be questionable...

I'm not trying to play police officer here between you 2...Im just saying to not put anyone in some sorte of category before knowing there real intentions of that person, just like talking for exemple that some police officers that were brutal with some people put those people in some sorte of category and don't learn to make the difference between a trouble maker and no trouble maker...

Just like puting apples in a banana basket...Its not puting things in the right order....

I called him a socialist because he makes it sound like people are incapable of running their own affairs without government intervention.

i don't know why you're ranting and calling people names.

the context of this thread is a citizen witnessed police brutality

you stated in your first post:

there is absolutely no justification for anyone including
the police to administer judge and jury on the sidewalk.
we have something call due process in this country.
