I can't believe how indignant everyone is on here about this. Bottom line, speeding fucking kills people. Enforcement of speed limits is not some nazi-police -state repression or anything, it is done to protect people, plain and simple. I'm totally sick of whiney drivers complainging about how they should have a constitutional right to do anything they want in their car. |

i was driving with a guy who was speeding and then ran a red light. he ended up breaking his toe, the guy in the front broke his collar bone, and then i broke my left femur and my left humourous.
for all those who hate speeding tickets...raise your right foot. |

You havin a bad day or something, 1st of all I did what most normal people on xmas day would do and that was warn oncomming drivers. Its 8 am on o work Xmas and barely no cars on the road. Was there really a need for radar there I think not. i am not bitching about the fact that there was radar but the fact that they took time to full me over when I was going the speed limit and not doing anything but slowing other people down. what the fuck are holidays.some of us had to work them..So fuck off.. |

Were you not hugged as a child? Is that it? I'd personally appreciate someone sticking their neck out on the line for me by flickering the high beams. i dunno about you, but a ticket and fine would suck. And someone having the common curtesy to give me the heads up (as you would if you saw someone with their fuel door or trunk open) would be greatly appreciated every single time. Not everyone would do it, but taking you as an example, you can't expect EVERYONE to not be an asshole.
btw, she get's what you're saying. she's addressing and you're ignoring her. you my friend, are the wall. 'it's the law! it's the law!' give me a break. i hope a cop busts into your house the next time you light a joint. hack. |

The cops actually fully in his rights. This said I do believe that a memo was sent around stating the amount of tickets needed to cover off the additional over time expenses occured during the holidays. Each officer or traffic team had a specific number of tickets thye had to issue through the holiday season. A buddy of mine got a one year suspension on the spot the other night for drinking and driving. He was under the old limit but over the new limit. They took his license on the spot.Granted he's oing to fight it in court cause its crazy with no prior convictions but for now he's without a license.

if it is so against the law then whey not hang out outside radio stations and give then tickets when they warn drivers on the traffic reports on where the speed traps are.. |

And for all the people who are flaming, police officers CAN be abusive with their power. However when you look at the facts here, I hardly think that was the case. Last edited by maple blondie; Dec 28, 04 at 09:18 PM. |

I personally would like to see the exact part of the criminal code that says warning other drivers of speed traps is illegal.
I think it was a cop power tripping, as they do. My uncle's a cop. I have first hand experience of what giant dicks cops can be (ie: him making me cry one year on Xmas eve because I didn't want to go on a ride-along through crack alley and then to the firing range. WTF?!?!). I'm with Stacey, and I know that flashing high beams at oncoming traffic to warn them is something we've all done or benefitted from in the past. Anyone who disagrees can just go have a big "cup of STFU". Have a nice day. :) |

It's a grey area between obstruction of justice which is a non arrestable offence usually on the first case but aiding and abetting a crime is a criminal charge. Either could be used in this circumstance.
I understand what you are saying in regards to just trying to be nice to other drivers but you have to also understand that the police officer in question also has a job to do and by notifying drivers of the speed trap you are defeating the purpose of them being there. I've done exactly the same thingin the past and will most likely do it again but I know that what I am doing is technically illegal and i can get fined. |

take a look at this law, its pretty fucking stupid. a $2000 fine, yeah the justice system knows whats up. this law can go straight around the corner and fuck itself. many people pointed this out, all she did was warn others to slow down, the exact same thing the police officers are ment to do. except they have to meet a certain quota. ok so she committed a crime here, if she really got the fine she was supposed to get it is plain to see that it would be unfair. it would be ridicules. also, i think you should chill out and realize that only sheep follow rules and laws their whole lives |

And I've still yet to see the proof that what she did was illegal. |

and to someone on top, usually people perceive that doing something illegal is wrong. i would say 90 percent of the society thinks this way sometimes it's true and sometimes it's not |
