so true. but i heard on cnn that the US is going to be donating more money. who knows if that will actually happen. it's sad that it's like a contest: who can can donate the most money? but who really cares as long as the people who survived the tragedy get what they need!!

the wall was 30 feet high, and moving at 300 miles an hour, running wouldn't have made a difference.

Thanks for that... it's tragic too. Does that make this any less of a tragedy though?

come on now, you have to be understanding of the US... they ARE plunging most of their money into a stupid meaningless war... they can't afford to be nice AND make war at the same time!

I think the worst tragedy ever was the Bolshevik Revolution with 60 million killed.

ummm, not even 30 years ago there was an earthquake and tsunami event,
which killed far more people (at least in comparison to the numbers so far)

the 1976 Tangshan earthquake in China, a magnitude 8 event whose toll of lives varies between the official 255,000, and an estimated 655,000. This event truly began the modern era of intense seismic hazard monitoring in China and the West.

there is a big difference between man made tragedies (arguably avoidable)

You're right. Replace 'tragedy' with 'massacre'.

don't know where you've heard that, but all the records i can find say pretty much no one died in that revolution. i think the death toll was 1,500 or so.
