please name those said restaurants! i love lumiere. it is expensive, no meal is worth +$350, but sadly that's what you have to pay to eat good food. it's not a 'flavor of the month', it's #1 in vancouver because it is the best. i've got reservations at quattro, west and C. the people i'm going to west with are kinda bitchy bout the time i made the reservations for, they don't wanna eat at 10pm, if they cancel out would anyone like to join me? west is filled up now btw. |

I just made a reservation for Zin's restaurant and lounge. I've never even heard of it before but it was one of the few that a tasty sounding vegetarian entree. anyone have anything to say about Zin's? it was such a bitch looking for restaurants with vegetarian entrees! some weren't even open to the suggestion of getting rid of the meat and putting extra vegetables. :( --Joanne :P |

But if you're betting on the fact that i can find better food for half the price (even though presentation and service may not be up to par), i wanna see your list! :) |

axion: lumiere and feenies is fucking rad, so rad that there are many cookbooks with recipes by lumiere/feenies chef. if it's out of your budget skip going there, and skip bitching, get a fucking cook book and try making something from them. bye. |

im not saying the food at lumiere is garbage, i admit it's good food but for the the price you pay the food isnt all it's cracked up to be. you are basically paying for the name 'lumiere', which is pretty much a load of shit. ps: im a culinary student, who is surrounded by chefs, culinary students and cookbooks for 8+ hours a day every week. i spend every day in a real kitchen. i have 3 friends who did work experience programs in the feenies/lumiere kitchens, i know for a fact that it's not all it's cracked up to be. so quit the fucking under-educated, know-it-all bitch attitude, pick up a knife and "get a fucking cookbook and try making something from them". then we'll talk. bye. |

Yeah I'm not an expert but I agree with this. I went to Lumiere as a last minute thing and just walked in with a friend and we ate at the tasting bar (so we didn't go for the full course deal.) Yes, it was expensive (I didn't pay) but the food was delicious. The dessert was my favorite, a freshly baked ginger pear eve. mmmm. |

ok, so i went to the Chambar Belgium Restaurant with a few people...
appys: Tourelle de Crevettes et Crabe · Tower of baby prawns, crab, candied ginger & avocado salsa on a bed of shaved fennel with pomegranate this was awesome. really cool presentation, a cylinder of seafood just sitting on the plate. the first bite made me feel like such a food fatty. my eyes almost rolled outta my eye sockets. main: · Congolaises - Mussels cooked with fresh tomato, smoked chilli and cilantro with a touch of coconut cream and lime i had this, and there were a ton of mussels in the pot. the sauce was really good. coulda used some rice or bread on the side. this also came with a little side of fries, ok but who really cares. Tajine d'Aziz a l'Agneau · Braised lamb with honey, figs, cinnamon & cilantro, served with cous cous and zalouk person who had this said it was pretty good, but nothing amazing. Waterzoi Tunisian aux Fruits de Mer · Bouillabaise of scallop, prawns, mussels & halibut in a tomato, vanilla, safron, chared orange & basil, served with black rice same with this entree, apparently it's a little too sour dessert: Gaufre de Liege · Belgian waffle with warm chocolate, blueberries and vanilla ice cream this was pretty good, but definetely easy to make. for me, the appy and my main course was totally worth it. had a belgium beer "leffe" really damn good, probably my new imported beer. the service there was phenomenal, the dude Alistaire sp? gave us excellent service without coming across as overbearing or flaming. the rest of the staff from hostess, food bringer, dish taker were all nice and smiling. they were always around and quick, without being all up in my shat. food 9/10 service 9.5/10 pretty cozy smaller environment. which i generally like. |

I went to Lift last nite (didnt even know it was part of the Dine Out untill today) and was impressed. Not much choice for people who don't eat seafood, but thats my own fault. Good drinks. Good service. The only complaint was the hour wait even with reservations. That place will be rad for the summer when all the windows open up. The upstairs patio will for sure be my favorite in town. And the sorbet was to die for.
Went to Feenies again last week. Good as usual. I'm not a huge fan of the whole 3 course meal concept because I never finish my meal as it is. I'm so picky its annoying. |
