i honestly thought they were $500 or less.
there was an article in vice of a designer who took a lv purse, tore it apart to get the design, and then made the same style of purse out of canvas. i personally thought it looked better. but thats me.

Whatever floats your boat. Nothing wrong with splurging if you can afford it. I say, live a little! I'm sure we'd all have different opinions if we had a lot of money. Do you REALLY think we'd all give our fortunes away to charity if we all suddenly became stinking rich? Not likely.

Most would probably keep it all. Some would donate a portion to a charitable cause. And even less would give it all away to charity.

Personally, I think some designer brand things are nice. I think it's stupid to buy something you can't afford, but I find nothing wrong in splurging on expensive things.

I am no sucker, but I do know that as animals, it IS all about appearance. It's not my bag that brings me joy, it's that I finally understand that people with Italian leather shoes have a sophisticated sense of style. One that believes that "plumage" is attractive, the more expensive, the higher the quality of life they appear to be living.

On a different level, along the same lines, hippies believe that noname brands and living an organic lifestyle brings greater joy. This is true for them, however, they still have THEIR necessities, like cons, or FLUEVOGS.

The trick is.....if you want it.....and are willing to WORK for it....then you'll get it :) Calling people suckers for getting good quality and service just says to me that you maybe aren't a man of status. Not a bad thing?

If I see something I like and I can afford it, I'll buy it. I don't let price rule whether I like something, nor brand name. A certain brand or store will get my attention, but I won't buy it *just because* it's LV or whatever. If it's LV *AND* cute, them I will buy it. The quality and luxury is worth it to me, if I like it in the first place. I don't drink and I don't do drugs, so I have more $$ from my good-paying job to throw around. I believe I deserve to treat myself to nice clothes/purses/makeup/shoes. I don't think any less of anyone who doesn't spend the kind of $$ I do on stuff. (I'm experiencing deja vu from the "when the quality in clothes goes down" thread). I do realize that most expensive things that I buy are also often seen status symbols, but what's wrong with that? I enjoy celebrating that I am well accomplished and doing very well for myself. And I celebrate that with shopping and indulging in my love of fashion and fine quality things.

Theres a word called "reality" Do you really NEED to spend $400 on a wallet or purse? Why do you think so many kids in school wear uniforms? So we dont judge ppl first by what they wear.

Somthing to think about: Look at someone who is driving a porsh or has a really nice house. You would think their rich. Well the funny thing is that they probly owe the bank $1000's and $1000's of dollars :P

Anyways I think smart ppl know an ok price to pay for sotmhing. And if its quality your getting then ok. However dont tell me paying $400 for a wallet is quality!?! I call it a waste of money. I think you can easly find a wallet that is just as much quality for way less the price. Thats the diffrence between a sucker and smart shopper.

I agree, if you don't have the money, don't break the bank on buying something you really don't need. Also, there's a fine line between buying something both for quality and the brand name, and being stupid and just paying for the name when it's pure crap (ie. plain ugly versace jeans are $400, you can buy better jeans for $100-200 price range and still have a good name)
