B Funk - our official policy on vinyl sales is that they are final. But if you take home a record that is clearly damaged, we will usually grant you an exchange if you make an effort to bring it back right away (within a day or two). Also we need a receipt, under no circumstances could we grant an exchange without one. We handle our vinyl with the utmost care but there are pieces that arrive damaged, and we don't catch them all before they hit the shelf. i myself brought home a Ray Keith record just a couple of weeks ago that was actually cracked in 2 places along the outer edge! I'd listened to it & inspected it at the shop, but i didn't notice the cracks until i was home trying to cue it. In a situation like that or yours, we would most likely exchange the record.
Also, it's our store policy that staff are not allowed to take vinyl from the shop for personal use. If a record left the premises it would be considered purchased, and we would not buy it back for resale. It's possible some staff might be bending these rules without my knowledge (i'm watching guys... o_O), but that is our policy.
Chewy: sorry about that, of course your holds & orders should be kept behind the counter. Sounds like somebody made a mistake! oh well, as long as you got what you needed....
thanks everyone for the feedback & support... you help us do our job better!
