any graveyard workers out there?
ive been on em for two days now and just fucking sick of it. the people i work with who have been doing graveyards for many years are just fucked in the head they all conduct themselves in a very unprofessional maner. i just feel like crap, i have trouble sleeping in the mornings with the sun shining in my window. this has got to go.

I worked night shift in a news paper press shop for about 10 days. I felt like shit and always in a grumpy mood knowing that I had to go to work at 10pm on a friday night. The only cool thing about it was watching all the people in the morning going to work when im on my way home in the morning. Never again will i even think about working those hours. The people that like it are very interesting thats forsure.

The odd thing is when you work to 9am, take time to get home,,, eat some food, watch a bit of TV to unwind before you sleep. But that some times ends up as late as 12pm. And I've had days I've not gotten to bed untill 2pm.
Fuck that really plays with you brain. |

let's not get in to transit woes, i am the QUEEN of bad transit ask anyone
i lived in south delta, worked in surrey (newton) the last bus to my work ran at 10 pm, my shift started at 1am, so i had 3 or so hours to kill. then, in the morning when i was done my shift, i had to catch the bus again, it ran every hour, quarter to the hour, and i got off on the hour, so 45 minutes of waiting at the bus stop. so to go to work at 1 am i had to leave my house at 8:30. that didn't last long, i quit after about 6 months. |

Love the graveyard shift, myself. Just go in, do work, no worry about bosses looking over your shoulder, no customers to pester you, crank whatever tunes you bring to your enjoyment, if it's a slow night, take super-long breaks, etc.
As for the sleeping during the day thing, just put tin-foil on your window. I heard Prince does that and I tried it. Amazing difference! |
