man...
after reading this book.... i have to say... i'm grossed out! have any of u other ppl read that book before... i'd like to have some soma right now..hahah to all the nuns on the board..i suggest u not to read it.. everyone has sex with one another.. ....and it's alright.... quote "you've never tried henry foster before?, he's good, maybe you should try him sometime" ... -vic

D00d.. its a sweet book have u ever seen Demolition Man? Its kinda based on Brave New World well if ur like me and u like stallone and snipes and lines such as "ur on TV!" *hits snipes with TV* u shud give it a try sometyme me.. i cant usually get em, cuz my girlfreinds a vegitarian which pretty much makes me a vegiattain :301: Im currently writing a novel Called RAVE NEW WORLD about raves.. and how sweet they are :D:

I liked 1984 better, but this was more disturbing. I liked Fahrenheit 451 too.

the emphasis on promiscuity was essential though. free love is a means of appeasing the people, and maintaining social stability - they removed love from sex and made the latter the only thing accessible. no one is going to fight another over emotionless sex.
it was also interesting though how sex is linked to the infantile nature of the new humans. huxley suggests that commitment & monogamy are adult institutions, and therefore dangerous to the system. by keeping the population on a sub-adult level, the controllers were able to ensure they were only interested in the sensual rewards of drugs, sex, and sport, and thereby they wouldn't become engrossed into the social, political, philosophical, and religious questions that could lead to counter-revolution. the unhindered pursuit of superficial happiness will keep the population enslaved.

If you're a fan of 1984, Brave New World and cheesy movies i suggest you rent Equilibrium. Not an entirely bad movie, but entertaining nonetheless.
