health question for fnk
Ok, I'm going to see my family dr about this in a few days but I'm wondering if anyone experienced similar stuff and what it ended up being. Or I know there's lots of smart people on here, too that might be able to offer info...
I've been coming extremely close to fainting and it's happening like sometimes 4 times a day, or sometimes 10. I'll be sitting or walking or doing someting normal and then sudddenly I become very weak, light headed and everything around me becomes fuzzy. The weird part is, I've never actually fainted as a result... Wonder what it is, anyone had this before? |

my mom used to get that alot.. and she used to faint.. she fainted once down the stairs..
she has anemia.. i used to be like that too.. sumtimes i have very small symptons.. i am on a average low of becoming anemic.. my advice to you.. is get iron tablets and take it once a week.. if u continue to feel this way.. take the iron tablets once every 3 weeks... and if the problem persists.. then check w/ ur doctor.. but ur best bet is go get a blood test to check for sure. |

Drugs? Unless you include caffiene and pot smoking, then you're pretty off. I've done E less than 5 times and that was all over three years ago for me. As for other stuff, I haven't gone near it. Pot smoking or caffiene are my biggest vices, and I think I enjoy those in enough moderation. |

also check you diet to make sure you're getting enought calories, low blood sugar could be the cause as well. If you've been having a diet that's low in carbohydrates (ie. you were on atkins or the south beach diet) your metabolism of sugars will have changed and that can cause these kind of problems

well just talkin w/ a doc friend & she says:
well anemia gets worse u know just because she didn't have it in the past it doesn't mean this is not the problem she'd have to describe her menses normal cause of anemia in girls and well u can't not exclude cardiological causes palpitations? out of breath? history of heart condition in family? neurological causes? ever had seizures? u need detailed history this is 1 of the most complicated dianosis but 1st of all i'd get a cbc blood test levels of anemia change then if it's ok i'd have an EKG |

The only thing in the way of family history I can see is that my mum has a condition where she gets these really really bad spells that are almost like seizures. Sometimes she can have like 20 in a day, but sometimes she can go without them for weeks. With her they are short, but quite intense and I don't really think they're similar at all. She's been going to specialists for the last 2 years or so and they still can't properly diagnose her.. I've never had a seizure or heart problems. I can get shortness of breath and have to take an inhaler sometimes when I get sick. What's a cbc? |

also, you probably already realize this, but feeling light-headed could be a symptom of a lot of different things, which is why proper testing is most likely necessary to diagnose you correctly... --Joanne :P |
