what was everyone like as a raver back in the day?

I did the whole kandy thing for awhile - I wore it probably for a good 6 months, but I wasn't really suuuuper into the whole Kand-E PLUR HUGGLEZ thing except for like my first 3 or 4 parties.

I think these pics say a loooooooooot about those times.

Oh man...First, to rat people out... ;)

I remember meeting Galaxie (albeit VERY briefly) in the line-up at Jungle for Dummies, and she was wearing a backwards hat with "GALAXIE" emblazoned across it (as was the fashion for ravers 4 years ago) with her hair low braids, and was dressed as a "jungle kid" in a button-down shirt and tie. Miss Rhia Wellbelove was wearing much the same thing, but was also wearing a little red sweater-vest.

I remember seeing jovi_is_me at the Java Joint on a few occasions, hair low braids, with a backwards hat and also wearing kandy...Other than that, I can't really rat her out. ;)

As for me, when I started partying (HOLY SHIT! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO ME!) 7 years ago, I wore bar-type halter tops and tight black flares...When I got REALLY into the scene 4 years ago, I wore phat pants and bright colors (not that that has changed much...Only now it's flares...), hair in low braids, and a backwards hat that had "DOLLFACE" embroidered on it. I also usually had a Rainbow Brite doll or other type of stuffed animal in tow.

I miss seeing all the little Kandy kids wearing their Laramy cords, backwards caps, hoodies, and big plastic wallet chains on the steps or in front of Burger Crack the night of a party...That how you'd ALWAYS know something was going on, even if you didn't know exactly what it was.

I'm going to dig out some pics to scan this weekend. :)

Jaydream (at that time, Ninjakid) and I were wearing the SAME outfit. It was his birthday and I bought us matching hats, ties and gloves and told him to wear a royal blue dress shirt and black pants! hehe

everyone talks about the "scene" around here fading... back in halifax there is no more "scene", there hasn't been an actual rave there since aug. 2003... and one of the only bars that puts any kind of club night is shutting down.... I went back there for xmas and was ashamed....when I started "ravin" back there like 5 years ago , the scene was dope, parties every weekend, huge headliners all the time, then it was like everyfew weeks, then once a month, once every couple months, then it jsut disappeared.theres just no venues... safe venues anyways. it kinda sucks really, cause all my friends are stuck back there havin pretend raves at there houses on the weekends!!! anyhoo, I never wore any candy or bright colors, but it was all about the PHAT phat pants, and fitted ball caps pulled half way down my face so no one could see the wreck my eyes were in...I went to doomsnight, and I felt like I was at my first rave again, mainly because I only knew like 10 people in the whole building, and all the friggin glowsticks.... no offense to the glowstickers or anything, but I haven't seen that shit in a few years!!! damn I miss the old days....

anyways i started partyng 6 years ago at this show called simple 2. my atire at my first show was, blue phat pants,white gloves,white visor,blue and white shirt,this stupid glow and the dark mask to cover my eyes,and i nearly fucking choked to death on those idiotic mini glowsticks that you would put in your mouth. and i wore various various bits of candy.

...theen as i started meeting more people and gowing to more renegade parties at mitchel island and such.....my all time fav oldschool partie is GIVE FREE 2000, that was a special one.

snicker, aslo remeber when my friends snuck me in underage at automatic in like their third week. THAT PLACE WAAAASSS PAKCED!...that was the first club ive ever been too! automatic at the lotus! i always be proud of that!


basically i always wore a visor,my etnies,my junglepants, and theses huge thick wooden beads round my neck that i would knaw on in leui of a soother when i was all tweaked out!

the people i've gone to raves with on this board seem to wear the same shit (don't hold me to that) so i can't really rat anyone out.

i went to a few parties wearing a gold tracksuit, with a crown, and sceptre.

and then i went to other parties with the infamous dr. ho (haha zapping the raver is better than that pansy ass fishing game).

other than that i would wear khakis, a t-shirt, and a jacket.

Before I started partying, people thought I was a raver. I didn't even know what that was! I was what I'd call a "pretty punk" or alternachick. I had my hair dyed wild colours, and it was in a short pixie cut. I wore adidas jackets and vintage tees...

When I went to my first few parties (March 2000) I wore tank tops and big flared jeans. Then I started fashioning my own phat pants and wore more bright coloured clothing. Oh yeah, and candy. After about 6 months of partying (also marking the end of the "glory summer" of partying for me) I went back to everday wear at parties, and it's been that way since... Except for a few occasions, like one of my sis's first parties where we had matching t-shirts made etc. Java Joint and Spanish were regular hangouts for me... And I was all over lx. Ahh... Memories.

I'm not THAT scared

Back when I first started raving gr 9-gr 10 I had those big laramy chords in a conucopia of colours, and big baggy thrasher hoodies and so on. I never was into the whole 'kandy' deal.

My first name on loungex was pixie_in_pink, and this was largely due to the fact that I was ALWAYS wearing something pink (and that hasn't changed much! and no, I was not kandy)

then came ghetto.funk.baby and as far as I can recall from those days, I often wore skirts and bandanas in my hair.


Not to say i've never committed some kind of raver fashion atrocity (because oooh shit, have I ever)
I think I'm pretty safe, tho I'm interested to see what tom's got for me ;)
