1.5 hours to chilliwack become 8 hours to Nelson.
I think what I liked most about Shambhala was that, unless you kinda knew what you were doing, you weren't gonna make it to that party. It's like an 8 hour buffer between the people who are gonna bring petty This-sucks vibes and the 10k people that are there to party down. We'll see. The rule of thumb was always "The more work it takes to get there, the better the party is when you get in." They used to say that about those one hour trips to chilliwack and Mile 36. 36 still has some class shows, but since the whole summer Massive scene seems so pendant around the eastern end of the LM, that rule quickly got shuffled out. The way I figure, it'll be a killer show this year. One improvement they can make is more variety in the music. Aside from that however, I imagine that this next year is going to be the beginning of the end of the myth that is Shambhala. SO GET IN IT THIS YEAR BEFORE IT GETS ANY WORSE! |

So true Dave!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember when ppl use to complain about chilliwack when it was more commenly used.. n everyone would sorta hope for a shuttle. a free one at that!~ but after all taht work of gettingout there.. you'd be happy and enjoy the night for what it is.. not ppl just look at it as nothing... as for mile 36... beofre it was enven used ppl were copmplaing about the distance.. tis not diffrent then goin to popkum!!! ugh... but remember if your gonna make a weekend trip up to salmo.. yor gonna go with some good ppl not ppl taht are gonna bring you down, right?! and you actually have to save up for this.. but if you have no idea what your doin.. your garenteed to get skrewed. like there more to tihink about then just 'I need my ticket and glow stick'... you need to basically set up home for 4 days... and have anough food to get youthrough it. If you dont know how to take care of yoruself.. I basically dont see them making it through a weekend. but all we can do is enjoy shambles while its still good! |

Ebb and Bitchin:
You guys have only been once am I right? I can see why you may think the second time around may be not as magical or a less free love experience. (I found myself asking the same questions prior to my second festival) But I can assure you when you get back to that rift in time and space all your anticipation, expectations and worries about re-creating what you felt last year will be blown away from the force of the shambles vibe grabbing ahold of you tight. And if you are smart, you will realise what is happening and give into it. You can't plan it, you can't control it, you can't change it. All you can do is experience it. If you guys think all this talk about it on Fnk or even in Vancouver for that matter is going to shift the anomoly that is shambles, you are dead wrong. You gotta keep in mind this event atttracts people from all walks of life and from many countries, states and provinces. Everyone one who is there has spent a lot of time and money to get there. This acts as a giant vibe filter, forcing those who aren't in the right mind space to stay home. Trust me, when you get back you'll feel the wave of energy that is thousands of other people's positive attitudes wash over you. You'll follow the bass through the forest and happen upon a stage rammed with party goers just like you (maybe not physically, but mentally) and if you are like me you'll scream "I'M BACK BABY!! FUCK YEAH SHAMBHALA!" But from there, there is no telling what will happen. SEE YOU AT THE RANCH! Last edited by Bobby_T; Feb 20, 05 at 01:42 PM. |
