Hrmm, 33 people died, says who, I'd like to see proof.
Shit for all I know they couldnt have pulled a number off the top of their head and printed it. And for those 33 dead people the deaths were linked to meth. Well I could get shot on Meth doesnt mean it was the meth that killed me right. Next you know, the province will do a front page report on FNK and how bad it is, and how the drugs section made people go out and want to do drugs and how bad it is. I have to agree, the province is trash. |

Ok, so they said meth was related to 33 deaths. But how many fucking lives has Meth taken. People go through some crazy meth phases and it changes everything about them. Maybe the number of 'lives lost' is in the several thousands. but there really is no way of tracking it.
I know a handful of people who've pulled through Meth addiction. But they're the lucky ones. Why not ignore the whole rave connection and think about the point of the article: To battle Meth. And i'll go to the grave supporting that Meth, Heroine and Coke are the straight up evil. If you do meth, you're in more trouble than you realize. that's for sure. |

I read the article and I think it is something that polarizes our scene even more.
The article only tied in Raves because the ectasy that was being confiscated from kids at parties was cut with meth. <--- this was the only link. It was reported completely wrong in my opinion, how they could relate it to the scene is beyond me. I have read reports regarding the "safe shooting sites" in Vancouver, and how they don't have a large number in attendance due to the fact that most of the users on the downtown eastside prefer Crystal Meth over iv drugs. Someone at the Province just needed some ammo cause they happened to show up at a "rave" last weekend. Not one of the deaths that they had listed to meth had any relation to any rave. I am just shocked that that is how they would report it. |

Here's a fun statistic:
<LI>In 1999, there were 5,762 smoking-attributable deaths, and 1,832 deaths which were directly or indirectly related to alcohol in 1999. There were 385 drug-induced deaths including drug dependence, accidental drug poisonings and suicides involving drugs. Quick math time! 5,762/385 = 14.97 = 6.7% -----------------1,832/385 = -4.76 = 21% Hrm. So alcohol killed 5 times as many people than drugs did in '99, and cigarettes killed 15 times as many. Anybody see a PSA on drinking in the Province? No? |

it's the news, it's not suposed to be real and truthfull. they make outragious headlines so people will stop and buy it then read everything and the worst part is they believe it, which saddens me deeply. thinking on your own instead of reading someone elses opinion (biased or not) does not match to first hand experience. the news/newspaper are 99.9% bullsh!t. still nice to see community fairs and sports in there, there is a small upside to the news.
