Vancouver DanceSafe Chapter >> Volunteers? Promoters? Anyone Interested.
I am in the process of contacting the DanceSafe Organization.
We will be coming to them, as well as the Vancouver promoters, very shortly with a Letter of Intent as to what we would like to begin. The only way to make our community educated is to give them the information. The only way to protect our friends is to make sure they are educated. Eighty5 has expressed intrest in helping me get something going up here, and we will soon be looking for volunteers. We need to know how all of you feel about this, and if you would like to help please do. Seattle has recently lost a child. This was due to not only his own ignorance of what he was taking, but also, the enviornment which he was in. In order to protect our scenes, we must involved everyone, the party kids, the promoters, the DJ's, the designers, the kids who decorate, EVERYONE. Raves used to be about friends as family, community, beats, and LOVE. We need to bring it back to that. One way we can do it, is by providing services such as this. And so, If you would like to help us, in any way please send me a PM or hit me up online at [email protected] I am currently compiling lists for seattle of volunteers and would like to do the same for you. We need people to do all sorts of different things... Not only do we need people to volunteer at actual events, but we also need people who have ideas, and contructive thoughts, to add to the brainstorming. At this beginning stage, mostly we need to know how much support is out there for this. Thanks for your time, and I hope there is a good response. Take care. <3 Love & Respect <3 Ashlee |

This will be fantastic. I'm so glad there are some of you down to get involved. I really believe this will make a difference in both of our neighboring communities.
I have written to DanceSafe both on local and national levels... One letter to the old seattle chapter (which we are starting up again! thank goodness...) as well as one to the original organization based in SanFran. Though there is no doubt that it will be difficult, due to factors outside our control, (i.e. media, local politics, etc.) we WILL be able to do this. Once I know from the DanceSafe people exactly how and what we need to begin, I will post it up. And as more information comes in, I will post that as well. I'm not totally sure what our next steps should be, but we will know as soon as I recieve responses. Thanks again, for your support. <3 L&R <3 Ashlee |

i'm down. this will take some convincing to city hall though i'd figure.. since this could be seen a way to support drug use and all night raves.... i'm sure many people in city hall don't have the attitude of "they're always going to be popping pills at parties so we'll prevent any harm like we do with heroin users". i'm sure they're far into their agenda to shut down raves in vancouver.
but... with some creativity i'm sure we can figure something out |

well safety and responsibility is whats being promoted here and its not like they have much control over pills, just like heroin, so if they do explore their options, public awareness should be a really good one, educate them about the drugs, dont just hit them and try to force them.

more than happy to help out.
back "in the day" it was the responsibility of the old schoolers to watch out and help the younger generation that was coming in. Too often now I have seen people(not all but some) who seem to have forgotten that it was an older party kid that took them by the wing when they first started and a lot of them did participate in the dance/rave safe organizations. I'd be more than happy to help out and lend a hand. |
