seriously, as cool as all these people of history and various famouses are, i don't really think i could constructively ask any one of them anything.
is it really fair to capitalize someones time because you think it would be neat or cool?

I think you are being way too pessimistic about this rawb, and I can see to a certain level it has to do with honour so I give you points for actually giving a fuck.

It's a risk that I would say I am willing to take, or as Wilde so elequently put it
"20 years from now, it is not the things that you did that you will end up regreting - it's the things you didn't do". Point in case, live a little, if you get shot down, atleast you tried -- THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT.
And you know what?
I know I will be up to bat again -- and aslong as I give it my all then that is what matters.

Not to mention his name has become some sort of an adjectival shorthand.
Yes I can see where you are going with this. So there is nothing you would want to show or tell him?
Maybe not even mention his work at all but try as you may to impact his life seeing how he's done in retrospect (okay so maybe that's pushing it but try dammit!). I don't know if you write yourself (though I would say what a waste of a concious if you don't), but feeling unworthy is a common emotion when it comes to dealing with someone as an idol. Perhaps getting over this weary feeling and going for the gusto and giving him a book or short story or something you've written yourself might be better then nothing no?
Or atleast drop acid with the guy and convince him to do a stream of conciousness (kidding!).

So what. Why not take the man to a studio and say you would lavish him with dames up to the ying-yang (and make sure it's not all bark too) if he painted a nude pic of you?
Or tell him you liked how he left his name uncapitalized (that's what I would tell him).

K I see where you are going with this. Maybe it isn't anyone place to ask -- and granted you may really want to know, but is that all you would have to talk about??
i just don't think meeting someone could fulfill me.
Modesty has a price too you know. Fuck, I'm going to go on a whim and entertain the what ifs even if it shortens my lifespan a good 25%. Because through all the heart-ache, atleast I tried, and rawb, I tell you now, you can never go wrong doing that.
