nose piercing question
so i just got it done today.
everything is peachy keen, not soreness unless if i enforce it, and i loving every bit of it. i have to get into the pool on saturday, but i can avoid putting my face directly into the water, and am only in for about 45 minutes. the way i see it is that i get into the pool when i have cuts and scrapes and they dont get infected, so why would the piecing? plus the chlorine is there to kill most germs\bacteria. im going to do epson salt before i jump in, and directly afterwards. any other advice? i was thinking maybe a bandaid? p.s. i loooooooooove it. |

the clorine will dry it out. that''s something you dont want.
I dont have my nose peirced.. so I can't really say.. but... best bet.. is do it.. and once you get outta the pool clean it, so theres not much clorine and put some polysporin on it. my best friend, nicole, has had hers pirced many times and has been though you name it.. so I'm just basing it offa hers. :) Plus that's what I did with my navel.... and it;s fine! |

awesome thanks.
yeah i figured it was over-exaggeration on their part at the piecing place about staying out of chlorine. jovi: so the epson salts are gonna be drying it out as well, is polysporn a good idea to be putting on? im gona be rinsing it after each salt treatment obviously, but as a precaution? |

the epson salt have minerals in it doesnt it?! I belive thats why ppl use it. I've never used it personally.
but yeh.. polysporin is like your BEST FRIEND when it comes to piercings. be it healing, streching, piercing, you name it. I assume you got your nose pierced with a needle... you saw that cleary/white gel like stuff they used?! that was polysporin. they may have even put some on after they peirced you. |

^ buddy had me close my eyes. i think he thought i was gonna freak out, and i wasnt\didnt. but afterwards there was shit in my nose so yeah it was polysporn.
talked to my brother about it too, he used polysporn like it was going outta style for his nipple rings. alright. im off to clean it and see if it hurts today! |

I've had my nose pierced for almost 8 years and I have never had a problem with swimming! Get a clear band-aid and then cut the clear strip off and stick it on your nose. As for cleaning it.. Dont go crazy because in the end you are just smothering it. Out of all of my piercings, my nose was the easiest because I just left it alone.. I suggest you do the same!! =D

But yeh.. make poly sporin your best friend megan. When Daves nipple ring ripped... I made him use polysporin so it would heal better. worked like a charm! |

Generally, if your piercer told you to avoid doing something, its for a good reason. Ive had alot of piercings, and the one that I have never had any trouble with whatsoever is the one where I followed all the annoying time constraints and rules about them. Plus, getting it through your nose isnt like getting an ear piercings. Lots of people get little ear infections on their earings and its not a big deal. Your nose is alot diffrent. Not to mention the health issues (for some reason health is never a huge incentive to anyone), if you manage to infect that you will end up with a nice big puspual that could grow over your piercing, and will remain for a time even after you get the piercing removed. So.. I would phone the place you got it done at and ask the person who pierced you, but generally, I wouldnt want to go into a public pool , chlorine or not, right after getting a nose piercing.

yeah im not gonna worry about the pool. i was talkin to another coach about it and they pointed out that at one game they got a hit in the nose that not only gave htem a nose bleed but there was alose a gash in the nose, that they jumped back into the water when the bleeding stopped. and also that they had no problem practicing everyday with the cut.
i figure to just relax is the best idea. and not touching it. |

Just do an extra cleaning after the pool. I have a lifeguard friend who's nose pircing got infected. I never had any probs and got mine pierced in june a couple years aog, went swimming atleast once a week etc. I would just do an extra cleaning after to be safe. thats all. no band-aid req'd!
