the first day back to the gym...
So... today might be the day! I'm sitting at home, bored with very little to do.. and i'm contemplating working out. But i'm super lazy. That, and i don't wanna hurt tomorrow. It's usually not day 1 that's bad, it's usually convincing yourself to drag your ass back into the gym on Day 2 and 3. FUCKKKKKKKK. And then there's the problem of choosing which weights i wanna use. Do i swallow my pride and have a light work out? or do i try to push myself and start with the weights i left off at (lol, yeah right).
DON'T YOU JUST HATE GOING BACK TO THE GYM WHEN YOU HAVEN'T GONE IN A WHILE!!?!? I'll tell you guys how it went.. |

Being a weight lifting pansy for the first 2 months is excusable.
If you've only had a 15 pound weight increase on all core exercises in that time, quit wasting your time and money, unless you're circuit training for maintenance or doing cardio for weight loss. Consequently, if you're still lifting within 15 pounds you void all rights to bitch about saggy man tittiness. |

Man you're not alone. 3-4 months ago, I stopped becuase this one week I had papers and finals to do. That was months ago, I'm just getting back now.
Yesterday, my friend and I went for a jog. MAN do we ever suck at that. It was a sad sight. But we're planning on doing it 2-3 times a week. Also, tonight will be my first time back at the gym as well. I think I'll just do a circuit after a bike warmup. Blah it's so much harder getting back into it than starting. I feel like people judge me and say, "Oh he hasn't changed." |

Something i know all too well. The longest run I have made is 3 months in a row. I frequently go for a month then slack off and end up nt going for 2-3 weeks. I have repeated this about 6 times in the last year and a half. But since i got my shuffle and just recently went back to the gym i find the music keeps me going way longer then before. Of course this is only useful if i go to the gym, now i must get into the mind frame to stop slacking off and just keep going.

Hey man if your worried about what the tightshirt macho loser next to you is doing, you'll never get anywhere. Lifting really heavy weights isn't always the key to getting ripped. If your jump back in there again, you'll hurt your muscles and actually do more damage then good, putting you further behind.
Run before your work out to get the blood flowing and start way less then u did before.. like 10 or so pounds less... then work ur way up.. I lifted my max for like a year, then after i put on muscle i never try and lift heavier weights, i just stay at the same weights and do slow controlled movements. Keeps me toned and keeps my strength level. Who wants to try and lift super huge weights and become a freak of nature girls are scared of? I see way too many wobbly armed, vein forehead popping guys trying to vertical dumbell press 80+ dumbells and they can barely do a couple reps, whats the point? |

heh, I'm gonna start my excercise routine on thursday. I've actually anticipated the "day 2" where your body is SO sore it's near impossible to move. So, I'm planning to make my first day back a lighter exercise. I figure it's best to be able to be able to go back on the second day. Anywho's I'll post back on fri after my day 2.

IMO, Small but toned and cut is way better than huge and flabby. Not that the whole football player look isn't hot. And no, I'm not a weightlifting expert, I just have a bunch of friends who are all serious about it, and know what they are doing. |

Well, here's my 10:00pm update. I still haven't gone. Starcraft was calling. I'm still fearing the pain.
I work a desk job now, and i'm really not looking forward to going. As for the 'running' before the work out... Fuck that noise. I work out at my work gym, and i don't think anyone would appreciate the sort of language i use when i run. I swear like a sailor when i run.. |

its funny cause i started my first day of work out today too, hah i wonder how long i will last.
i honestly hate the gym. but i reward myself with a nice healthy meal afterwards. today was a healthy greasy pizza. but ok i need to go wash the oil off my face now |

I just got back. This'll sound cheesy, but the feeling you get after going definitely makes up for all the bad stuff you think of before going.
I think the key is to start off easy. I did mostly cardio, and a circuit. Don't go into weights right away and start feeling sore after. Ease yourself into it. That's what I'm trying. When you get back on it, you feel really motivated. You just gotta keep going, then you don't have to use all that energy to get back. It's much easier to keep going, even if you slow yourself down, than to stop and get back on it again. We should have a gym support group haha. Give everyone a nudge when they feel lazy :) |

I go to Fitness World (I know two ppl that work there). That's another thing that hurts me when I don't go to the gym. Paying for nothing. |
