impure is a jewel in the roughimpure is a jewel in the roughimpure is a jewel in the roughimpure is a jewel in the rough
i dont know much about hockey but i've noticed that the WHL is getting alot more attetion now that the NHL is on strike.
from what i've seen on tv their games have filled the arena seats to max capacity.
so if anything good came out of this strike it's more attetion to the younger up-and-coming players who don't get paid huge sums of money to play.

They brought in the team 1040 poker series on thursdays which is always packed. You don't win any money but you get entered to win trips and such. Once again...it's packed. The shitty thing is about 70% of these poker players don't drink. They are just there for the all in. Another thing that has brought alot of people into the bars in NTN Texas Holdem. Its free and fun. And fills the space of what sport to watch tv. (It also makes my day faster when i play poker all day) So in conclusion (heh) as long as my bar is full and they keep throwing $ at me...im fine with poker instead of hockey now. Hell...Baseball has started so let the good time begin.
p.s. hey brett...im sorry but i can't be friends with yankee fans. :)

;) I can look past that, I hopw one day you will too.

which bar do you work at?

I know a lot of the bars around the stadiums have really be suffering from the loss of hockey revenue.
I am very happy to hear they are making up for the loss some how.

Thanks!

gambling in japan is illegal. when u play the slots here u win tokens, then u trade them in for prizes. When u get ur prize u can find a bunch of illegal shops that tkae ur prizes and give u money for them...weird eh?

Obviously, the burst of popularity is due to a number of things (lack of hockey, increased viewing on TV, growing interest over the past year or so, ect.) but I think a part of it may have to do with the games we played when we were younger... When I was in elementry, Pogs were "the thing". I think those of us that played with pogs, perticularly those who were any good with them, have something in us now that's related to gambling. Maybe now we're more prone to taking risks than those that played on the swings at lunch. Gambling is with us now, we're more comfortable with gambling.

Or maybe we're just bored and stupid.

The fact that I would rather watch hockey before gambling as entertainment would be a YES.

And you ppl are right when I think about it. Ive noticed a huge popularity fad of internet poker games taking over since sept.

I think that there has been an increase in gambling alsodue to availiblity, there are new casinos popping up and and more on the way then ever before. This trend will likely increase as there seems to be a "war" of sorts brewing between the 3 casino leaders currently.

Having poker televised has also been a factor in the increase of gambling, (obviously poker for the most part, but in general as people take breaks from poker in the casino) so I do think that there is a link between the two.

Casinos are not bad though I don't believe as yes some do have SERIOUS gambling problems (48 and more hour stints), but Casinos also contribute HUGE $$ to charity. As well is one of the faster growing job markets locally as of late.

Definitely...

I don't seem to make it through a day without someone talking about the casino or last game of poker they had.

Lots of my friends have been going to plaza non-stop since it opened :S
