Reverse Discrimination

Reverse racism: An example would be giving the black man a job over the white man who was equally qualified because of all the years of oppresion his ancestors had experienced.

Reverse Discrimination: Giving entrance into Law School to a person in a wheelchair because school policy is to admit a certain number of disabled people in each year.

So reverse racism/discrimination, do you see it as a problem today? Have you been a victim of it?

I agree with you. I'd just like to know how far it goes these days and how many people it actually effects and how.

The only reason you call going backwards in a car reverse, is because it is going the opposite direction that is usually goes.

The term reverse is entirely relative. It only means that something it directed in the opposite direction than convention dictates.

I really agree with you here, reverse discrimination and reverse racism is huge lately. The other day at the bus stop someone (african american male) asked me to use my phone, and I politely declined because I had no minutes. I offered him a quater to use the payphone at the gas station up the street and his response was:

"Girl you just a hater 'cause I'm black. you just wanna be hatin on the black man"

and he walked away. I couldn't believe a stranger had just said that to me, when i was getting my wallet out of my purse to do the guy a favor.

Same thing with the way people carry on in the workplace and at school, if things aren't going the way they want, they play the race card. "I'm not getting this or that because I'm *insert any race here*"... "You are being mean/unfair because I am *insert race here*" Or the seemingly personal favorite of many "Its because I'm *insert race here*, isn't it?"

it just goes to show how entrenched the concept of racism is towards minorities from a white majority when the term "reverse racism" means the opposite.

racism by definition does not have any defined pre-requisites of color.

i'll admit to feeling slighted by my inability to fill certain grad school positions or receive certain scholarships because of my unfortunate WASPness... but then i do realize that such controls have been necessary to create a more equal global community. the question is whether or not such controls are still necessary, or whether they've transgressed into promoting more discrimination, rather than less. i think we're now getting to the point, at least in this particular socio-economic status and situation, where these controls are being abandonned.

I've gotten horrible service in sushi restaurants or chinese cuisine restaurants bc I'm white. I know that's what it is, bc if I come in with another white friend I get shit service, but if I come in with an asian friend it's all gravy. Pfft.

All in all, racism and discrimination (reverse or "conventional") really seems old fashioned.

I don't mind being discriminated against because of my color..I mean if they don't want to like me, then I could care less...I'll just be extra nice and cast a spell on them secretly~
Then they can't help but like you and give you good service because they want your tip..but I never forget when a waitor is chincy on the wasabi and when I ask for more they point at my wasabi and say "there it is...you've got some" and walks away. Or says "um, yes wy-od. Wy-od samon...yes."

this is kinda what i was getting at. i haave not checked a dictionary or anything but i dont think discrimination or racism has anything to do with a certain ethnicity, physical +/- or skin color.

summed up...reverse racism is even more ridiculous than racism. People are racist..it's natural...just like when I walked through this chinese convention and I was dodging everyone because they wouldn't make eye contact with me. I was the only person walking in a zig zag, because I was white. They perhaps didn't even know I was there. Maybe asians are blind to white people...that's what I thought after that ordeal;P HAHa*
