Uh Oh... mapleleaf4ever and Canadian Defense Policy?!

So today my friend completed my membership to the Liberal Party of Canada. He's chosen me to sit on the Foreign Affairs and Defense Comittiee of the Youth Wing. It's going to be interesting as we're going to be developing a lot of new policy that may actually get passed into reality. My friend has already written a couple parts of Canada's Foreign Policy. Craaaaaazy sheeeit... that and I'm taking the possible future President of the Youth Wing for Lunch. SHE'S DAMN HOT! LOOK OUT MAPLELEAF4EVER HAS BECOME A POLITICIAN! OHHHHHHHHHHHH SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEIT!

Put me down for a 50 million dollar government advertising contract and I'll see to it that a nice donation gets kicked back to the Liberal Party. Deal?

Not that I have any love for the conservatives mind you - but these are going to be lean times for the grits....

^ *edit for mapleleaf4ever* you do realize that the UN is on a mission of worldwide disarmament right?

gun bans are written in their own documents. and so is new term called "collective security".

Here's a primer:

Part two

Neither of those are particularly bad ideas.

[edit- also, it would make you look a lot better if you bothered to actually do some research and reference UN doccuments instead of relying on sites like prison planet to make all of your argumetns for you.]

that's like saying by making booze illegal, that would make society more morally upright...

skip to 33:45 of this interview and it'll pretty much give you the lowdown.

Any place where they have put down a gun ban, crime actually increases. Switzerland has the highest gun ownership per capita and yet the lowest rate of crime in the Industrialized world. True story.

Yeah, switzerland has also managed to stay out of every major war in the last two centuries. You can't make simple cause and effect connections like that ignoring all of the other variables.

If you do a state by state analysis in the US, places that have gun control have the highest rate of crime

Myths About Gun Control

  • New Jersey adopted what sponsors described as "the most stringent gun law" in the nation in 1966; two years later, the murder rate was up 46 percent and the reported robbery rate had nearly doubled.
  • In 1968, Hawaii imposed a series of increasingly harsh measures and its murder rate, then a low 2.4 per 100,000 per year, tripled to 7.2 by 1977.
  • In 1976, Washington, D.C., enacted one of the most restrictive gun control laws in the nation. Since then, the city's murder rate has risen 134 percent while the national murder rate has dropped 2 percent.

The reason being, gun bans only affect the law abiding. Criminals still have access to them.

For the record, I fully support Canada's membership into the EU.

Anyways, why is it that guys always end up joining the government over a girl? Seriously. Same thing happened in Starship Troopers, damnit!

Correlational research never says anything about causality.

Ever consider that they have more stringent gun laws because of the high crime rates?

people will still be getting their booze as always, and you're just empowering organized crime in the process

even if that's the case, society is suffering more violent crime after the gun ban as opposed to before.
