OTTAWA—Canada's military wants to create a rapid reaction force of navy destroyers, fighter jets, transport aircraft and army troops and equipment to send to world disasters and global hot spots.

The plan for the expeditionary force will be outlined in the government's long-awaited International Policy Statement, which sources say will be released on Tuesday.

The strategy for a quick response force incorporates two key priorities for Gen. Rick Hillier, the new chief of defence staff — a reorganization to better integrate the three branches of the armed forces and a desire to see Canada have a bigger impact on the world stage.

"You need each of the services integrated to have greater effect and greater presence," a military source said yesterday. "Not a little bit here, a little bit there."

But rather than create a new separate response force, the military will synchronize training to ensure that elements of the navy, air force and army are ready at all times to respond together to a crisis at home or abroad, something that's not done right now, the source said.

^ I've seen concepts of this a couple years back. Lots of interesting stuff is now coming into Fruition. Ahhh, the days when the Comanche was just a drawing. Now I can see it on TV blowing shit up. Hell, the US is now working on the new Body Armour and Helmets for the Army with built in Comms and Heads up Display. I can't wait for World War 3! It's going to be fucking great!
