a handy guide to Davie Street trends
since moving to Davie and Jervis two weeks ago, i have begun to notice many trends and fashion statements that are common among the men and women that frequent this street. i thought i would write up my observations in this handy guide for anyone that cares to read:
leather jackets - IN (i swear the guys on Davie are responsible for at least 100 cow deaths a day just to furnish their wardrobe) leather pants - OUT motorcycles - IN (especially little vespa things) moustaches - IN (but only on older guys, usually ones who wear leather jackets) beards - IN (same as moustaches) long shaggy hair - OUT shorter hair - IN short bleached blonde hair - IN (but only for lesbians) tiny dogs - VERY IN (bonus points if it has hardly any hair or is wearing a sweater) glasses - IN (but they have to be as tiny as possible and wireframe) ugly colourful shoes - IN (usually orange or red with a green stripe thrown in for extra ugliness) goatees - IN (bonus points if it's just a little tiny spot of hair under your lip, so it looks like you missed a spot shaving and are just too lazy to clean it up) it's taking some time, but i'm getting used to living down here. it's good to document these trends because now i know exactly what NOT to do. |

here's a few other popular trends i've noticed in my past few years living in the neighboorhood:
sleeping in storefronts under a cover of garbage: IN screaming unintelligibly at no one whilst rooting through a dumpster: IN keeping 3 or 4 large dogs when you obviously can't even feed or take care of yourself: IN picking fights with 2 or more guys twice your size while tweaking HARD: IN being a polite and gracious panhandler: OUT bathing, washing your clothes, or generally making any kind of attempt not to look/smell like a total piece of shit: OUT trying, even to the most minute extent, to function as part of a society: OUT |
