cell phone companies

i currently have a pay-as-you-go phone w/ fido but i want to pump it and get a monthly plan. i have been looking into rogers, fido and telus. fido seems to have some good packages (eg, $25 unlimited incoming, $30 for unlimited after 5) but i am sure that there are tricky hidden charges and stuff.

which carrier are you with and are you staisfied?

I'm sticking with Fido, for the pure fact that their customer service rocks. IMO. They've never given me a hassel or anything. Awosme ppl.
[except for this one guy that works @ the keyosk in maple ridge, but him and I dont get along period.]
Not to big on how thier unlimited plan went to shit, but it's not to shabby right now... I guess.

That Fido $25 plan is ending in early May. Looks tempting, I could replace my Telus cell and Telus wired phone with that plan. Maybe they'll have another good plan to replace it cuz these companies like to sign up students etc in the summer.

For an extra $5 a month Fido lets you use the Rogers tower network which has better coverage than FIdo - could be useful for anyone in a marginal Fido area like some of us in Chilliwack.

I emailed Virgin to see if I could use my old Telus cell with them (same CDMA technology) but they said no, a new phone is required. Virgin looks OK if you just use a cell a very small amount say as an emergency phone because the pay as you go minutes last 4 months. So possibly you could have a Virgin cell for as low as $5 a month.

Once again a nice try with thsi thread but you are not going to find any answers here really with this topic/debate. Theres always those who say rogers is the best or telus, or fido and the other sucks. Its all preference. True that there are indeed some truth to some of the opinions. For example it is obviously the Telus has the best coverage and if you live in the boons or go the the boons often that this would be a good choice and fido would be ur last and of course rogers being a 2nd choice. The unlimited crap is good if u think its great. Sure $30 a month for unlimited is great but if u were always using pay as u go that means u probably dont use ur cell phone a whole lot in which a normal $20/month will probably even work out for u. so why pay the extra $10/month? Other things to consider is are u a cell phone junky? If so Fido and rogers will suit you since they are GSM phones where as telus still uses cdma meaning u will have some pretty ugly phones IMO. Look at all their packages see what company has plans that fit you. Personally i think Telus has some pretty horrible plans and horrible looking phones. However as stated earlier they do have the best coverage and best reception overall. Ive been a customer of telus for 3 years, fido for 2 and now ive been with rigers the past 5 years. Telus was great back when i had it but i started to hate them for reasons mentioned earlier, fido was just horrible and had IMO the worst fucking customer support ever, rogers i have had no problems with, god a wicked ass plan ($20/month 150day mins and unlimited evenings and weekends after 7pm). Your call, woops got carried away and made it a long post.

another thing about rogers/fido is as e_boy said they are gsm phones, so they have sim cards meaning if you buy a new phone you just put your sim card in the new phone and you have instant service. other providers require you to switch the service at a cost.
