let this fuckin place die already. unless you think it can handle a rave 24hrs 7 days a week, it's not gonna be their #1 option.
"hmmm, a real business? or a place for kids to come do drugs once a month?" i wonder which would make more money? really let me continue to ponder this |

^umm.. there would be more then just raves thrown in there..
like concerts, home shows, import shows, indy, ect.... Like they said.. they would just have to promote enterpise hall as more of a place to throw events! |

i hate to shit on everyone's magical parade, but chances are d/t waterfront apartments will rule all.
btw: the new convention centers being built for olympics will out class anything they come up with at plaza of nations. remember plaza of nations was having a hard time booking conventions and things of that nature BEFORE edgewater. so why exactly would it suddenly become some mecca of conventions and all things fun? |

^^^
I am going have to agree with you...Plaza was lacking in money the place wasn't being used enough...Think about it the casino is used 24/7 days a week and their is constant money being brought in...but when it was just plaza it wasn't constantly in use and they were in the hole...I think it would be nice to have plaza back but face it...It isn't going to happen! |

I find it funny that people are so quick to say this city sucks, and that there is nothing for us. But when the city finally tries to do something for it's youth it is attacked for that too. |

because they asked for some kids to come down you think they're actually gonna give any weight to those suggestions?
money talks, it's prime real estate, very very close if not technically 'in' downtown. if you haven't noticed towers are going up like mental around vancouver. btw: a facelift won't change the fact that it's a old ass convention center. it wasn't being used because it was way too freaking small for most conventions. seeing how a good chunk of it is now a casino i don't think some new paint/carpet is gonna bring in the shriners or whoever else. *i'm not hating per say, but it's pretty naive to think "omg we might get to throw raves" or even say a skate park which are gettin more popular around town, but $$$$ talks. prime real estate on the water, close to a skytrain. pretty safe to say TONS of people would wanna live there. |

This is not only about raves but about creating something new for Vancouver, an entertainment center. A tourist attraction. Which would not only draw people to our city, but pump money into our economy. Something we can't do without in this city. I can't see the city wanting more housing when it lacks in entertainment. Who is to say they don't level the whole complex and build something there that is way better than what is currently there? They are more so encouraging the entertainment idea than the housing, and I think that if I go down and say my piece, it will make a difference. Maybe that is where you think I am naive, the fact that I think I can make a difference! |

If I could I'd go down and vote but unfortunately I can't.......and as much as I'd like to see it used for entertainment purposes it all depends on what they think will bring in the most money.........hell they may even decide to do something with it that hasn't even been told to the press yet and be atotal surprise to the whole comuntity

DAY GLOW 2005!!!
=P On a seriouse note; we should speak up for what we want in our city. Im very intrested in checking this out and ill probly spread the news to my brother and his bmx firends. I think its important we provide more events aimed towards young adults and teenagers and seems these ppl feel teh same too. However we have to prove to them that we want it and will bring money/good reason to do what we want them to do. Last edited by Ree Fresh; May 06, 05 at 12:35 AM. |
