Eating "Healthy"
Many of us have bad eating habits, especially young people when they are living on their own suviving off of junk food. I for one have been doing that for a while and yes you start to feel it, so today I decided to change that.
After 3 hours of moving a whole lotta heavy ass Italian furniture, I went back to my place and decided to spice things up a bit. Seeing as how I got a decent workout from heavy lifting under the scorching heat of the sun I had some tuna, white and rich in protien. Then I dug into some kiwis, mangos and grapes and took a vitamin pill (centrum). Seeing as how I have a surprisingly huge appetite for a guy who weighs 150 lbs it didnt surprise me to feel hungry an hour later, so i had some smoked salmon and rice. Now this question seems really odd for a guy to ask, but Im getting really sick of my bad eating habits and I would like some advice on healthy ones. |

well, im not really one to give great advice because i pretty much live off diet sodas. but i hear, that if you eat more proteins instead of sugars, that it fills up that junk food void so it will be easier to eat good stuff like..apples, heh yum..
but i wouldn't go off junk-food cold turkey, thats like taking a crackheads dope away from them...there will be problems...so just wean your way off the bad stuff and soon good things will happen... |

i eat pretty healthy
veggies and fruits all the time. i don't consider potatoes a healthy veggie tho there's not much too them, cept carbs. people think perogies are healthy cause they're made of potato for meat i stay away from beef and pork. i try too stick too wild game or chicken. no skin, try too stick with breasts, and non medicated. for carbs it's always whole grain, sometimes whole wheat. i try too stay away from processed carbs, like bread and bake goods. grains, nuts and seeds are good. snacking is plain lightly salted multigrain rice cakes, apples, nuts, and apple fruitcups. i make my own trail mix with roasted walnuts, almonds, and hazelnuts. i'll throw in organic banana chips, dried pineapple slices and dark chocolate chunks. i eat tons a salads with my own homemade dressing. orange juice, maple syrup, vinegar and oil is a good dressing. greens, alfalfa sprouts, tomatoes, tons a nuts, cucumber, beets, cucumber, peas, feta cheese etc. last week i ate the same thing for dinner every single fucking night, it's yummy. boil some chicken chunks then in a pan continue cooking the chicken with some chunks of pepper for a minute. afterwards mix it with cubes of tomato and avocada, and quartered artichoke hearts and toss with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. when i don't have time too cook, i get these cans of organic all natural soups made by Amy's. some of them are pretty good, especially with ricecakes. oh yea and for drinking, i try too stay away from beer. i normaly drink wine or gin/tonics. |

I wish I had time to cook at home, I'm a workaholic. I work at Red Robin Guildford about 5-6 days a week, yes fast food. I work as a cook sometimes and thats when Im allowed to cook my own food, if I do order something, I end up making random salads that arent even on the menu most of the time.

i've walked by fatburgers a couple times in the past week and its been soooo tempting! it's kinda funny how there's vera's not even a block away, i wonder who's doing better.
i love not having time too cook, cause that means i'm working ~60/hours a week and i turn too my ricecake and apples diet. check out capers, choices, or famous foods (e van). they carry organic and all natural groceries, and have a big selection of decent frozen and canned meals. all natural frozen pizzas (spinach and artichoke), frozen dinners like curry bowls, cans of all natural chilli, and even all natural macaroni and cheese! capers has a big deli/cafeteria like thing in it...i love it, i looove their power muffin. choices has a decent deli as well, i'm ghetto and wait till they mark down the food just before expiry date. they have nice veggie sandwiches, and vegetarian rotis. it's great how people are turning too healthier options these days. i love all those salad bars in malls now! one day i'll try that apple and walnut salad from mcdonalds |

I dont think its that hard to be cheep and eat healthy. In the long run cheep food money wise is cheep food in the out come that your body gets. I barley eat anything, but I eat a wide variety of healthy food that gives me the energy I need. Its about quality vs quantaty.
Here are some of the "cheeper" healthy items I shop for and combined them into soups/salads/sandwiches/sushi/stir frys or just snack on them naturaly. Protine: eggs are your cheepest form of protine and so many thigns you make with them! Beans are great with soup/salads and super cheep! Penut butter/penuts great source of protine and easy to store. Imatation crab meat is very cheep, but hard to fit it with other foods... I mostly just snack on it by its self or make home made sushi :) Veggies: spinich is one of my favs and loaded with vitamines. Onions that are rich in colour are loaded with vitamins and cheep. When if comes to green peppers/tomatos/cucumber etc I usualy look around or wait wait till there on sale. Alot of veggies fluxuate in price so grab them while there cheep! Fruit: BANANAS so cheep and so good! Again fruit is like vegies... watch the prices. I love fruit though and im not picky, so I just grab what ever seems to be the best deal. Dairy: Milk doesnt realy have an cheep way unless your picky about your brand names. I always see sales on yogart and its a great source of dairy! With cheese dont get that stupid kraft stuff. Sadly my fav swiss doesnt go on sale much... but if you keep an eye out on the cheeder you can save big $$$ Carbohydrates: KEEP TO WHOLE WEAT!!! Bread/pasta/rice are probly the cheepest of the 4 food groups and gives you alot of enery thats perfect if your the active type. ps: I probly spend an average of $20-$40 a week on these iteams. Drinking certain fresh, organic juices on an empty stomach will do wonderful things for you in various ways. If you want good, healthy food and you're on a budget my reccomendation is to stop by famous foods (on kingsway near victoria dr), you buy in bulk and the prices are very agreeable. |

Healthy natural foods are the very fuel our body needs to keep our energy levels running high! It's amazing how good you will feel not only physically but mentally when you eat natural foods and excersize. Fish, green veggies, any meat really as long as you eat the right portions, except for maybe bacon haha.
For people that have done a lot of drugs, that eat too much junk food or that have taken a lot of medication as a child may find it hard to bring their energy levels back up when they are eating right.... Most probably because their livers are clogged with all the junk that stores in your body when you do drugs and eat unhealthy. When our internal organs are not working properly then we will suffer greatly in the energy department, we need to be healthy inside and out! Even Sh*t like tylenol doesn't completely flush out of your body. I would suggest going to see a naturothic doctor if you have this problem... I know from experience that it makes the world of difference. People next time your sick.... wait it out, don't take advil for that bad headache or tums when you have heart burn... we are supposed to get sick once in a while, it makes our body stronger!!! Instead put TONS of ginger in your honey and lemon tea and eat spicey foods like peppers.. these foods help fight off bacteria. Step 1: Avoid simple carbs
This means no candy, white bread, etc. Eat all the complex carbs that you want (whole grains, vegetables, fruits). Step 2: Avoid saturated fats This means no fat that is heated up or solid at room temperature. You can eat a lot of oils like nuts, fish, etc (unsaturated fats) without any problems. Cut those things out of your diet for 99% of the time and you are basically guaranteed to lose fat and raise your overall level of health. It's pretty simple. Keep in mind that simple carbs and saturated fats are basically drugs. They have negative nutritional value and are eaten for pleasure as opposed to nutrition. Cut down. |

They have all the nutrients you need to sustain proper health - it's a fact that humans could live strictly on avocadoes and water. It's a super food!
