Beelining has been a word much longer than the bus used it.

When you "beeline" for something you go straight there without paying any attention to the distractions.

They abbreviated it to b-line so they could be... uh... fit easier on schedules.

When i was a young kid I thought the B in B-line meant something else:

if you look at the capital letter B, theres a straight line and two squiggles, the "3" part. Taking the bline meant taking the straight line as opposed to going around the squiggly way.
