question about running shoes
alright so i have insoles already for my hips and a little case of metatarsalgia, so most shoes i get dont really need a whole lot of inside structure.
currently in the bootcamp im doing, my knees have been killing me to the point where running - even walking - is excruciating. i've been told its due to my lack of good shoes, which is most likely true. i think i spent $40 on the runners im currently sporting. im going to hit up the running room tomorow, but i was just wondering if anyone knew of any other places with good knowledge of feet\legs and shoes would be? |

i suggest asics, no better runners imo.
Oh yea, and if you have insoles already that you've invested into or orthotics you don't need to spend the extra money on arch support and all that jazz.. the insoles/orthotics fix it for you. Just get a neutral runner *hint Asics 1100's*. Last edited by ulala; Jun 21, 05 at 01:12 AM. |

picked some nike pegasus - they were the only shoes that didnt allow me to roll over onto the outside of my feet. i naturally do this when i stand and its one of the main sources of problems for me. i've never had a pair of shoes that have prevented that before.
tried on what felt like every pair in the store, and those were the only ones. thanks again silverwinged, you definately know your stuff lady. |

ex: if the shoe is designed for walking, and you walk in it... maximum life. ex: if the shoe is designed for walking, and you are out ripping up the trails at Bunsen lake, you'll be lucky if you get 6 months out of your shoe. |

my foot or rather my natural stance is that i put all my weight on the outsides of my feet causing me to almost lift the insides of my feet up (like my big toe) an exageration would be to say that i try to put my outside ankles to the ground. because of this in all my shoes my feet dont lie on the sole, they role over the side of it, meaning i dont really get any sort of proper support and it pulls the rest of my body out of allignment. because i was a swimmer, my feet are slightly curved as well which also helps in the problem of my feet not lying directly on the sole. i knew this was happening, but never really thought much of it thinking that feeling the outside-side seams of a shoe could be normal, and the feeling that i might roll my ankle over at any moment was just from having really really weak calf and surrounding muscles. but now i know it isnt normal, and that they make shoes to actually prevent this kinda shit from happening. my new shoes rock. and another thank you to silverwinged. i want to send you karma but apparently im not allowed to. KARMA! |

i was born with feet that went pigeon toe'd sorta.... apparently when i was SUPER young i had to wear leg brace things for a lil while.. i have no recollection of the event. |

^ no not nervous. i roll my ankles alot and it will hurt but i never sprain them just more so irritate them. i think you have to be doing something more major plus i always roll my ankles i think ive probably stretched out my tendons and stuff from how i stand - sometimes i do just stand on the outsides of my feet. terrible terrible habbit.
its the suck, but i do believe lots of people have the same problem. some people just have problems with constantly rolling their ankles from having weaker muscles. |
