Ville Ste Pierre which is now part of lachine. Lived in the project apartment buildings on windsor street Spent most of the child hood there Briefly lived again the project area in downtown montreal Its the block of St Laurent Street, Ontario st East, De Maisonneuve blvd and sanguinet st Pretty much the family on my mother side also grew up there after they ended up having to move because of developement surrounding the jacque cartier bridge. |

montreal is without a doubt one of the most awesome cities on offer.. it's cheap, it's sociable, it's funky, it's mental. montreal's definately more work-to-live than live-to-work.
homeless people in montreal are style whores. it's all about who's got the loudest face tattoos, the most metal in their clothing or who can give the st laurent trendies the hardest time. it's fascinating to watch from the outside. vagrancy in vancouver is so dominated by narcotics. |
|

lived there about 16-17 years....
Well you gotta watch out with ste laurent street especially at st laurent and ste catherine street. There is like no more squeegee kids anymore but a whole bunch of crack heads around there.... I'll never forget that time when I walked down ste catherine street all the way to jacque cartier bridge to see the fireworks.... OMFG there was this gay bar that was just LOADED with guys. It was the ultimate sausage fest in there. They were all drunk and stuff. It was rather funny watching them. |

there arnt as many homeless people here as in vic cuz of the weather difference. the winters here are so fucking cold, and the summers so fucking hot. in vic there is never a huge temp. change.... lol that make more sence? sry im a lil scatterbrained |

sona has been closed for years.
the dome sucks unless it's a special one-off event. shining sal, you're going to all the wrong places. Therapy at Jello bar on Thursdays is absolutely legendary and has spawned Therapy-branded nights in Toronto, New York and LA. Really good vocal house and garage. stereo is easily the best club in montreal. it's not a gay club, it's an everything club. saturdays are much "gayer" than fridays. They're extremely old at this point, but there are some photos here: http://spacedisco.com/guide/showClub...lub=ClubStereo The following sites are good for montreal event listings: http://www.welovemusique.com http://www.mtlnights.com |

QuanNeur!!

HAHA. Richard, I should've known that you would plug MTLnights! I just saw this Montreal thread and saw your name as you were the last one that posted. How are you doing?? Back in Van or are you in MTL now? I miss it there soooo much. I had plans to spend a week there at the beginning of July as I was closeby in NY, but my plans had to be cancelled due to something that came up. We never got to hang out...that drunken sweaty hug at the Drink was real brief!! I don't understand it when ppl slam the city...it is by far my favourite city in Canada. The winters are long and brutal, but the fact that they actually have a real Canadian weather is kinda nice. It's more festive and Christmas-y, and once the sun finally comes out and summer arrives, everyone strips down the layers and celebrates the warmth. They block off the major streets for street festivals...there's tam-tams up on the mountain...rent is dirt cheap compared to Vancouver...and despite the common attitude that the ppl there are rude, I actually met some great locals during my year there. Montreal has a different kind of charm I guess...something that Vancouver VERY much lacks! Edit: Stereo is a great place!! I can give thanks to that place for many long, fist-pumpin' nights. Gay boys sure know how to par-tay! Last edited by Erica; Jul 20, 05 at 10:21 AM. |

ya montreal north is just crazy now days. The neighborhood I grew up in was rough as well. I'll never forget the swat team just showing up in an unmarked van with guns drawn and starting to run down the street and then start firing into a window. The owner of the corner store down the street got shit lucky when someone robbed him and they shot him only to hit the metal clip on his suspenders. Never went through him.... Amazingly enough my friends brother who used to work there is now manager at that store... He has now been working there for like 14 years. So many other crazy things that has happened there to.... to many to list..... |
