we went by the spanish party after the tower beach party got shut down. we flyered a bunch of cars for apex and then after looking at the types coming from the beach/heading towards it, i decided to kick it on the beach with ashley and wait for my friends to check it out and come back. seanu on the other hand literally RAN too the party... but it looked like a bunch of stereroid monkeys looking for problems .
what i dont get is why the police shut down the tower beach party, that was basically just a bunch of friends having a good time, while they let the party at spanish go on and on with hundreds of people there. and the spanish party was more accessible, so its odd Last edited by cinist; Jul 18, 05 at 04:38 AM. |

you're almost right about the steriod monkeys looking for problems. the group of asians who were starting shit with people (and got sprayed in the face.... and made it on the news!) were definetly not cool. |

probably boils down to the fact that the tb party was selling liquor and advertised the fact that they were doing that with flyers... |

The party ended up getting busted (of course) but there was apparently some guy who was so trashed he couldn't even walk. An ambulance was called and the paramedics hiked down the hill with a gurney to bring him up. But as this guy was suppposedly around 280 lbs, they couldn't get him up the hill and had to call a hovercraft to pick him up and take him to spanish banks. Quote:
Reasons: There are police hovercraft that patrol the entrance to the inlet and it's always a good idea to have a rotating lookout to keep their eyes peeled in order to turn the lights off so that the party isn't glaringly obvious (sound usually isn't a huge problem cause the hovercraft noise will drown out the music). Although there are no residences nearby and the music can't be heard at the top of the hill, the sound actually carries right across the bay and can be heard by the residences in West Vancouver. A number of parties have actually been busted due to noise complaints by people in West Van meaning that the volume does have to be monitered to a degree. Another easy way to get it busted is to have people milling about at the entrance of the trail or have people parked too close to the party. Tower Beach is very well known to the police and when they see people hanging out at the entrance they know there's a party going on. The earlier the party starts also contributes to the likelihood of it getting busted. I remember a couple that didn't get started till 2am for some reason or another and those lasted most of the night... and wasn't shut down by the cops. |

people hanging out at the entrance is something that can be controlled by having someone go and check the top of the trail every 20 mins or so (different person every time) and tell people at the top not to shuffle around there... People parking to close is an issue I agree, so a designated parking lot within say a 10 minute walk from the trail should be assigned... Fat people getting to messed up is something that noone can control, but what the promoter could do is make sure that one or more of the staff has their first aid. Basically what I am trying to say a safe party that doesn't get busted is not impossible, and my first post in this thread was in refferance to the most recent tower beach party, which was off the hook. There wasn't enough lighting though, so people started fires all along the beach and that is the reason why the cops showed up, I know that because they showed up with firemen. |

um, i think the issue is that it's really f'ing expensive to haul in a hovercraft to recover people if they require medical assistance so they really don't want that to happen again, that makes it virtually impossible to have anything last at tower beach for long. There are ALWAYS lots of police officers patrolling the area day and night for wreck/tower beaches.

should have mentioned that lighting fires is a dumb idea too but it gets done a lot...
regardless of how many precautions are taken it doesn't change the fact that tower beach is a known spot to party and i'd say that maybe only 2 in the last 10 or so Tower Beach parties i've attended in the last 5 or 6 years have managed to not get busted. Quote:
