But it is selfish - you may not see it....what are you going to say to a family whose child is hurt as a result of an accident you get into.

"Uh sorry, I just couldn't be without my car"

The reason they took your license away from you in the first place, was because they felt you weren't yet responsible enough with it, to have it. Which is clearly shown here. You aren't even making rational decisions when it comes to driving. And all because you can't take a bus? Or a taxi? Or a bike?

Maybe you should think about following Mateo's lead....he said it best. He did it, it was his fault, he has to suffer the consequences.

I know... I'm just pointing out another thread that is providing me the entertainment of people that are blatantly ignorant and people that are obviously right going back and forth in circles.

The reason Im still driving is because I know I'm not posing any more threat to anyone's life than the next person *in present time* Ok sure, Im young, I drove with a couple beers, I hotboxed my truck, I got minor speeding tickets.. I learned from those mistakes. Ill never do those things again.. if I don't drive for 4 months , or if I do, won't change anything. Listen man, I got 0 demirits on my test (not that I'm proud of that, the test is a joke!) I've made a couple mistakes in my 3.5 years of driving. I have changed my ways. End of Story. *sigh* I hate arguing.

You have learned your lesson? I fail to see where....but whatever you say.

Your chances of getting into an accident are 80% higher as a driver that has only been on the road 3 years than one that has been on the road 10. Not to mention, you have been busted 2x for driving at least 20 km over the speed limit, which is something I am sure you probably consistently do. Do you speed in a school zone? Do you even notice it is a school zone? Do you think your reaction time is going to be fast if you have just smoked a joint? What if a child darts out in front of you in a park zone while you are going 50km because it isn't that big of a deal?

The only thing you seemed to have learned here, is how not to get caught.

Splinter is an unknown quantity at this point
I fairly regularily drive 20-30km over the limit

Some limits in BC are insanely low, because it keeps ticket revenues high.

Time and time and time again it has been shown that speeding doesnt cause accidents, driving aggressively, driving without due care, and driving under the influence of even just a few drinks or a joint are far more likely to cause accidents.

But that isn't good for revenue, so they ignore it.

^ Oh god... there are so many places the limit should be higher. Parts of the Lougheed Highway for example. King George should be raised a bit as well in more than just the Flats.

ok.

So reading my second fine over I noticed that my N violation is written as "driving contray to restriction" which adds 3 points to this fine. If it were written up with "failed to display driver sign" I'm pretty sure there would be no points. Anyone help me out on that?

anyways if this is the case it leaves me with 6 points which means I will dispute the fine eventhough I proabbly deserve it. I rely on my truck alot. Blah blah.

Also. The lady at the provincial courts mentioned that if I dispute the fine they will send me a court date 1 year later. Is this true??

if it is. And I follow through with disputing does it mean I wont have to pay any premiums from the fine when I go for my class 5 on oct 3rd?

When it comes to disputing a ticket, you won't have to pay the premiums until you are done disputing it. Paying them is like an admission of guilt, does that make sense?

But yeah, the court systems are backed up...it would be a while before you get there.

I think the best idea is to talk to someone directly at the Moter Vehicle Branch. They know more the any of us.

if a fine is being disputed, *I think* that you don't have to pay it until the final ruling. So if you go get your Class 5 in the mean time, you won't need to pay it.

oh, but if you have your class 5 test booked, they might see that, and make your court date sooner so that you don't get away with it.

I don't speed anymore.. Not that i was ever a speeder or anything.. 120 on the hwy is very comfortable. So I go 110 now. The 60 zone where I was goin 80 was double sided with barriers and no houses or anything. Anyway, I don't even know why I'm defending my actions lol in all your eyes I guess I'm still a "drunken idiot who is gunna wrap ur children around a poll going 70 in a school zone!!"

The thing is, you can't defend what you are doing.

This is not about speeding or driving under the influence. This is about driving without due care and attention. Which is what you do everytime you get behind the wheel without a license.

I think you're an idiot because they took you license away for not driving responsibly and yet you still have the opinion that it is your RIGHT to drive not your priviledge. It all goes to show you just aren't mature enough to have a license.

I hope ICBC takes your car away, they will if they suspect you are driving it with no license.

for the record i have been talking with ICBC and the provincial court just wanted to see what people experienced themselves.

PS stop arguing

its really annoying to search through a pile of useless arguments in order to find an answer to my question. I havent read them all but who cares. You people are atleast a few years older than this kid and may have a shitload more experience driving but could you look back to when you were his age? and what you were doing? and if you were playing it all by the books etc. Do you atleast remember how 20 year olds are going to justify their actions wether you think its right or wrong? I understnad how people could be angry with him for what hes saying. I have lossed a few people in my life that have drank and drive and another who was hit by a drunk driver but I know what I say to this dude will have no affect on him whatsoever. They show high school students pictures of drunk driving victims with catheters in their penis' the size of dimes and thats not even enough to deter them. I'm not sure of anyones intentions here but you aren't going to win in an argument with a careless driver.

I hear what you are saying Mateo. I did my fair share of stupid shit behind the wheel. I am not saying I didn't, but I have never driven without my license, not even by accident. I also never had my license suspended for anything whatsoever.
What this kid isn't getting is that him driving without a license or insurance is dangerous and selfish. You have said yourself, you did what you did, and you are going to have to pay for your consequences no matter what they are.

This kid feels this rule doesn't apply to him because he can buy his way out of it.

I'm 21, I am his age, I got through my L and N stage of driving.

I didn't drink and drive, I didn't drive when I wasn't permitted to, I didn't speed.

Now I'm class 5.

doesn't matter how old you are, you have to obey the rules.

ps I am his age, and I don't act this irresponsible.

^Photo radar is no longer used in BC. It was deemed a big waste of money and the whole program was cancelled.

Well its obvious that you're a perfect example of a 21 year old driver but you missed the other part of the sentence. "Do you atleast remember how 20 year olds are going to justify their actions wether you think its right or wrong?" other then stroking "your own ego", is telling him what kind of asshole he is or commenting how careless he is going to affect him and his driving habits in anyway?

PS. that "your" wasnt a direct "your" it was a "anyone" "your" carrie.
