Questions about speeding tickets while having you N.
So I have been driving since 2001 and still have my N. I got a ticket 4 weeks ago for not having my N. A police officer pulled me over for no reason at all and told me it was jsut a random check. He gave me a fine for 109 dollars because I didnt have my N sign. 2 weeks later I am driving 125kms eastbound on highway number 1 and get a fine for speeding and not having my N (it was litterally taken off the back of my truck 4 or 5 hours prior)
now I phoned ICBC and they told me theres no set rules to review your licence but the superintendent can decide to have it taken away for any period of time. I am wondering if this is going to affect my licence ie: will it be suspended for a month? 3? I don't plan on disputing the tickets b/c I commited the act. I just want to know based on other new drivers experiences what may happen. |

i was under the old rules too. i think the rule is two tickets and you're suspended. how long is variable, i think, but you can try to dispute it. i had mine suspended twice, for only 3 tickets over the course of a few years, which is pretty ridiculous.

#1. There's no such thing as a random check.
#2. Dispute your ticket for not displaying your N and it will be thrown out of court. #3. If it's *just* a speeding ticket (highway sign or whatnot) dispute it anyways, postpone it 14 days before the court date and keep postponing it until you dont have your N anymore. But, checkout how many points the ticket has. |

You might well be looking at a possible suspension or probabtion period, based on your pending/commited infractions and who is behind the desk looking at your record(s). It might not come right away either... It may take a short while for a letter of suspension or probation period to arrive. If I were in your shoes, I'd take whatever comes your way (as you plan to) and then asap GET RID OF YOUR N! Until you have "proven" to them that you are no longer still at the "learning/new driver" stage, they will continue treating you like one and continue "trying to teach you a lesson". Since you've been a New Driver since 2001, you probably aren't really all that "new", but to them you are, and will be until you get your class 5. I hope you get lucky and have nothing come of this at all (except the fines of course), and can get on with getting rid of your N faster.

Don't worry about it, you shouldn't get ur license suspended. I got my license in 2001 too and I got speedy ticket one month, and then the next month i got another speeding ticket and a Failing to stop for police ticket at the same time, ( that one is a long story its not as bad as it sounds lol) but anyways my license was ok. But you do get hella points at the end of the year, that was 9 points so it was an extra 600 bucks at the end of the year, on top of the fines for the tickets

bah, too much random reading.. my story..
I've never gotten a ticket for speeding or not displaying the N. I got rid of the N a month ago. I'm so happy. ps. parking tickets don't count cause it's by the city and not ICBC. ICBC will impound your car if you have too many unpaid parking tickets. |

Yeh i had my N for a long time. No "N" tickets don't count for anything. It's when you get speeding tickets, running red lights, etc, that you get your license suspended. So i'd go and take your Class 5 exam right away and dispute the tickets. That is what i did.
A few months ago i rolled through a red light turning right and going a bit fast, some cop was down the road and nailed me with speeding in a muncipality and failure to stop traffic control. It was horrible, but i went and got my Class 5 a week later, and disputed the tix which i have yet to be contacted about. Good luck with that. |

i got 2 tickets.. one for speeding and one for passing on the right.. and mine was taken away for 2 months.. i think it has to do with how many points you got on your license.. if youhave 5 or more they take it away.. speeding ticket = 3 points.. passing on right = 2 points total of 5 points which is when it was taken away.

passing on the right when there is only 1 lane.. not the best idea when a cop is coming the opposite direction |
