has anyone decided on an itinerary?
mine is going to be something like this- bangkok for 5 days (to deal with visas and such), up to chiang mai for 5 days incl a cooking class and a trek, down to ayuthaya for a couple days, then to ko phangnan via bangkok and surat thani, but then we have a litle under 2 weeks and no definate plans.. any suggestions for another island or two? {chances are that itinerary will change a lot as we meet people, like/dislike places, hear about great spots, weather, etc, but my daddy wants a complete itinerary before i leave, haha} |

fyi, thinking in advance about where you want to go (what events you want to attend/miss, which public holidays could be a huge pain, what the weather patterns tend to be like, etc, etc) isn't the heinous backpacking treachery so many 'play it by ear' holier than thou-types say. as long as you don't adhere to some preplanned vision of the trip, having a vague idea about the places/things you want to see & do before you get there can be incredibly helpful. also, with limited time it's nice to be able to have some kind of idea of when to do what.
besides, nothing helps you survive the last few weeks/months of slaving away at your job to raise enough money for the trip than browsing guidebooks/LP. aka: "bite me." junglequeen: maybe i'll see you there. ;) |

^LOL
Robin the two main things I remember best about thialand was Phi Phi Don (where the beach was filmed) and the 3 islands in the centre of the gulf of Thaialnd (ko samui, Koh Toa, and some other) Although those places are raging with tourist, I had a blast... especialy at the full moon party (young backpackers only lol) Im wondering what program/companys you guys are with for teach and travel? How do you like the pay and job so far? |
