wouldn't lx's traffic be cut in half if they started charging?
so the server bills might go down...? oh well, it's not like cheapasss don't have anywhere else to go... man, f&k & ED are gonna look like the salvation army after all this... lmao... |

With all do respect for these other boards, as i do use them from time to time, they just don't compare. Loungex has an opinion. |

When lx and xtcity were running together, anyone who wanted to post anything "important" would come on lx to do it.
Why? a) because of the size of the audience b)LX actually matters. If you want to see the vancouver scene in a nutshell, go on there. All the other boards are just a bunch of friends getting on, and posting gossip about eachother. Well, mostly. The bunny owns all. |
|

i think loungex is just a reputable name because it's been around...
i don't see how a venue can determine the quality of the content. it's the people that provide the content. but when you talk msg boards, LX is the first to come up. advantage - al. it's like any other company out there... build a name, and eventually it doesn't matter how shitty the product is, because now you're selling a brand not a product. how does al intend on billing members? "meet me downtown and bring $10"? hehe... most 16 year olds don't have credit cards... "mom can i borrow your credit card so i can talk to my friend that lives down the street about drugs. don't worry, this site has AN OPINION" (no hate intended, just an inquiry) |

you've opened up quite the can of worms here. but i'll let the other relevant parties contribute from here on. Quote:

And they do not represent the majority of LX. To base your dislike of LX on a small part of the members of the board, is much like someone basing their opinions of FK on JibJib alone. Please, if you're going to bash a board, have relevant reasons for doing so. And try not to let your own fuckups bias your opinions. ][nkster |

By the way, have I mentioned that I like FK a fair bit now too?
Like LoungeX, like ED, like Clubvibes, all the boards have their places. They've all found their niche. And, believe it or not, I'd probably defend this board just as much as any other board should someone be bashing it without due cause. ... I'm always one to be about freedom of thought and speech... but, if you are to exercise those rights, you'd better fucking well be able to back them up. ][nkster |

inkster i'm wondering what service you provide to lx (other than creating social classes for ravers and putting lx'ers at the top), since you seem to be so elite.
you don't seem to do much more than talk. if that's all you're capable of doing, you might wanna take some PR lessons from jason. seriously, i'm just wondering... cuz maybe i'm misjudging you. |

i would be happy if only the paying users got to see the goods. it would decrease the traffic too. but lots would be un-happy. |

And LX is always the first message board to be mentioned because it has the community on it that has the most influence, intelligence, and stability of all the boards. Quote:
Develop this analogy a bit more. Please, do elaborate. I dare you. Quote:
To humour you: LX membership will most likely be based on a ticketing method. Go downtown to your favourite rav0r store. Buy a ticket. Register online. Voila. You're in. As well, as Al is probably the most accessible promoter in Vancouver, he'd more than likely meet someone downtown, or invite them over for some GTA3 on his Playstation, while getting a membership as well. He's just that kind of guy. ... You should probably also be aware of the fact that most of the active members of LX are neither 16, nor financially incompetant. You really don't have a clue about LX, do you? You should really shut your mouth before you dig yourself a deeper hole. Quote:

I don't put LXers at the top. I just put them above puds like you who have misgivings about the board due to some stupid pre-pubescent drama that they predicated themselves long ago, that made everyone laugh them off the board. Quote:
And I do not have to justify my existence to you. You who I have never ever once seen at a party/rave/massive/clubnight/meet/etc. Are you sure you're anything more than just talk? hmm? ][nkster |

even so, how does you not ever seeing me at a party make me less of a person? i'm sure we've been introduced somewhere along the road. and if you want to argue with me, then yes, you do have to justify your existence to me. the argument seems to be in regards to why you're so great. so... why are you so great? |

the only reason lounge X is considered so prestigeous is because it's been around so long. and it's really only considered prestigeous by people like inkster who have tried to make a career out of establishing themselves on it. i've been a purveyor of lounge X since early 1998 and the only thing it has that most other boards don't is more traffic. the result of that traffic is a shitload of useless info, and a small percentage of good conversation. the ratio is the same, it just comes in bigger numbers. i personally think al is banking a bit too much on the loyalty of lounge Xers .. i enjoy(ed) the site because it was a good place to waste time and talk shit about life, music, whatever. i'm also pretty sure that most people aren't gonna want to shell out $10 just to post something on the internet. if not for the money then at least for the inconvenience of somehow getting al $10.

but i think there are quite a few ppl that will shell out the $10... i'm pretty sure al could get away with making a lx bunny worshipping doll and people would buy it and pray to it every night... *oh lx you are my saviour* *droooooooool* |
