Here we go again:(
Another fire here on the hills in Kelowna. This time it's on my side of the lake. I already have a friend and know a bunch of people that have been evacuated.

I remember them talking about the Okanagan Mountain Park Fire jumping from house to house. It would only be the same or worse, god forbid, if it actually does reach some property. The Westside is much more densly populated. If this thing grows in size overnight, screw any activities I had planned tomorrow... I got to help in some way. |

They mentioned on the news that the location of the fire is close to some "large", "expensive" homes..... Hope they didn't start it...... lol |

They said on the local news that they are having trouble pumping the water up that high. Not enough pressure. They are having to pump the water from the trucks up some 2000 feet of hose.
They said that that's the only good thing about the fire moving down the hill toward the lake. |

Well, most of the evacuation orders have been lifted yet everyone remains on evacuation alert. After daylight came and the fire department had a chance to examine the fire during the day, they have scaled down their estimate of how large the fire actually is. Last night they were saying it was in the area of 40 - 50 hectares, and now that has been dropped to about 25.
Still, it's just the area where the fire is that is so scary. |
