Vancouver named best city to live!
...not like we didn't already know that!
Story here : http://edition.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/eu...vey/index.html |

born and raised!
what it needs + a reality check + to open up its collective eyes and ears to the rest of the planet + understand that gentrification will bite us in the ass down the road + for the city officials to learn how to do math (ie.money mismanagement) + to start settling the debt that is owed to several aboriginal groups + a transit system indicative to the tax dollars goin into it (more money mismanagement) + to seriously address its homeless/poverty situation + to re-invest into long term care facilities what it doesnt need -more poorly conceived asian/fusion restaraunts -more parking meters -more pawn shops -more starlight tours around stanley park -more transit cops -more guns -more "progressive liberals" aka sheltered protoidealists who have no understanding about what the word "action" means ...but on a serious note, im glad i was raised in this town, this is where ill raise my kids (or in fiji, scotland, chek republic) and although it has many a problem (theyre more indicative of western society as a whole) i like the diversity, the ethnicity, the landscape, the culture, and everything in between, lets not fuck it up anymore then we have. vancity MASSIVE REPRESENT!:) peace+'spect fable |

Weve always been in a tough battle with Sweeden and Australia.
Funny enough when going to Adilade, Melbourn, and Sydney... so much reminded me of Vancouver... all it was missing were the humungouse lush mountains that we have. Then again we dont have their kick ars surfing beaches. |

1500$/mth 1Bed in Geneva and thats the regular price... And believe me Vancouver is way far away from expensive if thats what you think, NY, SF, PARIS, LONDON are also very expensive... Vancouver, should work more on the homeless people tho... I have never seen that much homeless people in other CANADIAN cities, not even Toronto....Im sure Los Angeles has about the same amount of homeless and the population is about of 10'000'000 Peace Last edited by maztraz; Oct 04, 05 at 07:31 PM. |

Try living in Sweden, then you can bitch about the cost of taxes, etc. HA
edit- or tokyo. or london. even food is ridicilously expensive. eeeedit- or in paris, to RENT an apartment you need to throw down: your first two months rent, PLUS a damage deposit PLUS an agency fee. THAT IS EXPENSIVE! Seriously, do people know that Vancouver is really not that expensive of a city to live in? Last edited by miss.myra; Oct 04, 05 at 08:28 PM. |

Restaurant Count minimum 10$ for a Meal ( McDump is one of the cheapest you can find) Health Care I paid about 200$/month and thats not the most expensive And hmm..I left Switzerland a month ago and taxes were at 7,6% when I left (but it changes often, but no lower then 7,1%) I wanted to do my drivers license before leaving ''1000$'' And Jobs are almosts impossible to find...I took 7months to find a fulltime Job there, and yes I done High School/College Thats about it :) |

as pretty as it is here, i'd take melbourne over vancouver any day.. there's just so much more life in that city... so vancouver's still 2nd place in my mind...i have yet to find out what it is about vancouver that booted melbourne to 2nd. probably the mountains...those always impress people. all big and ...peaky.

Damn, you lot shafted us to number two in the world. But not to worry as I am looking forward to moving to vancouver in January. the best thing about that poll in melbourne is beating sydney. they thin k they're so dam good. I am interested to see what sets our two cities apart. I hear that melbourne is more of a party town from someone from vancouver but I guess that's not involved in the equation. but it sure as hell is going to be involved in mine.
as a general query, what is the wage say for someone working in a grocery store or working in a restaurant? |
|
|||
if its your first job and you have NOT yet completed your first 500 work hours, and your company tends to be on the cheaper side, then employers will hire students for $6/hr.
if not our minimum wage is $8/hr. sometimes if you work in a grocery store, you will start at $8.50-9/hr, and also some of our grocery stores like Safeway are union which means a checker at the check stand could be making up to approx $10-14. |
