Hey
I have quite a few... and actually just got another peircing yesterday. None of mine have ever gotten infected and I sorta found my own sorta way of doing it and it's really easy and heals very fast. Get a shotglass (or perferablly the ketchup containers from mcdicks because the will never grow bacteria and will always be clean). Fill it with hot water and than put a pinch of seasalt and mix it. Than put the cup over your peircing so that its flat on it and sorta move it around so it soaks everywhere. Do that for about a minute or so. Than take a que-tip and dip it in the seasalt water and go around the peircing but make sure your wip towards the peircing and not away because if you wipe away it wips the junk into the peircing. (i know it sounds liek it wouldnt because your wiping away but it really does) Than put just hot water and with no seasalt and do the same thing and than let it air dry and violia. Your cleaning is done. Don't put any bactine or any of those products on your peircing. It actualyl drys it out and you DO NOT want to do that because it can lead to your peircing getting dry and it will start to flake. Than it can get infected because more skin around it is exposed to the outside environment. Also no polysporine! It just clogs the peircing and than the gross stuff can't come out so than you have a bubble form.. which looks really nasty. And trust me on my advice...! Good luck! -Jacenta |

I've had the top done for about 5 years and my 2 bottom ones(bottom-left and bottom-right) for about 3 years. It's pretty easy to keep it healthy, just don't use bactine or any soaps with perfume, artificial colour, etc... Dove works well. The important thing is to stop yourself or others from touching it for the first few weeks especially. It's really tempting to fiddle with it cause it's new and right there in front of you, but even if you wash your hands a lot, you can still get it infected. Soap it and leave it alone, let your body heal itself.
Oh and if you're an e-tard or a jib-monkey, you may want to take a break from chemicals for at least a few weeks. |

I used sea salt on ever single piercing and it got infected...I used it how they told me and still got infected so I let them heal on there own mostly now...and use bactine if they start to bother me. Last edited by IntakE; Oct 18, 05 at 12:04 AM. |
