help w/ choosing colors paint.

ok so.

I am painting my house in a bout a week and still havent come up with the colors I'm aiming for.

I really want the house to have an asian feel to it so reds, and greens are a must. The kitchen and living room are main concern right now. The kitchen im either thinking a red or green and the living room a greyish green or redish brown. anyways you can see the colors on www.behr.com

my floor is a medium colored hardwood through the entire house and the kitchen cabinets are an orange brownish wood color. Oh yeah and my couches are a tan color.

if you have any suggestions or maybe have some qestions that you think I should ask myself before picking a color etc please add.

go for rusts and deep oranges/yellows to get an oriental feel, if you are brave, try something towards a gold accent.
try not to get too much green going on or else you might feel like you are in a constant state of christmas.

keep in mind red and green are complimentary colours so putting them next to each other will make them appear more vibrant.

i'd suggest red for the kitchen, as red and orange stimulate appetite, and green for the living room cuz it's supposed to help you concentrate. i'd be very careful with the red, something with warm undertones, with a bit of brown, like a blood red as opposed to a cherry or fire engine red. neutral greens react a lot to their surroundings and the best suggestion i can offer is to bring home samples and view them in the right light, day and night.

if you're going for an asain look, get a quart of semi or high gloss black for your trim and mouldings if you have any. will look so much better than white.
have fun & post pics!

It looks like you got some great ideas flowing already about how you want to decorate. Good paint colours makes all the difference, and if you want to complete your asian-inspired look, check out chinatown and pick yourself up some great accent pieces to have around. As far as paint colours, I think deep reds, rust/burn oranges, subtle/earthy greens, clean crisp linen/ off white and rich dark browns with look amazing and compliment each other well. I found a neat article about asian-style interior design that would be worth a look. It talks about which colours and styles are more respresentative of chinese vs japanese, and there's ideas for accents, etc.

Also, here's some rooms/accents I found that might inspire you:

But has everyhting to do with completing the look and creating ambience!

Btw, I didn't suggest any specific Behr colours (although I do adore their interactive site), bc I wasnt sure if you were going for more of a chinese or japanese look/feel or if you were gonna just go with your gut about what looks good, so I offered up the link to hopefully make it easier, but I might well have made it more difficult - So many beautiful colours and directions you can go,even within asian-style! Have fun!

hard to do the reds and darker colors because of the accent. I just started painting my new home, I went with the "crisp celery."
