Hockey card collectors??

Anyone else on the board collect at all? It's one of those hobbies I started out doing as a kid and just can't seem to break. The excitement of pulling out a hard to find insert card is as exciting for me now as it was when I was 10!

It's pretty neat that a lot of the newer sets include some pretty good memorabilia cards now. Going through two 8-pack boxes with 6 cards per pack on the new 05/06 UD Power Play got me 3 jersey cards (Jagr, Murray, Hemsky) and two rookie redemption cards worth 10 rookie cards a piece (4 redemption cards available, groups A - D, no word yet on which group Crosby will be in).

The regular sets should be coming soon... super excited for them too after a year of CRAP collecting due to the lockout.

Anyone remember the first Gulf War? I sure as hell do... I still have a large set of the Desert Storm Series. I also had a nice collection of the Desert Shield Upper Deck Set. HOO-AH!

I have one that they fucked up on... The picture clearly shows a Super Sea-Stallion Helicopter but the Card lists it as an AH-64 Apache. BIIIIIIIIIIG DIFFERENCE.

Depends on the player I'd say.... they haven't been listed yet in Beckett so I can't say for sure.

The signature cards and the patch cards are the real chasers. The patch cards especially as there are only 5 cards for each one. It's just really neat to have a little piece of game worn memorabilia inside a hockey card.

My 3 top hockey cards would have to be (and they are in mint condition):

Wayne Gretzky's second year card
Mark Messier's second year card
Paul Coffee rookie card

My sad story involving hockey cards at a young age about when I was about 15 years ago I had a Patrick Roy rookie and a Pat Lafontaine rookie in the 86 OPC card...traded them for a couple no good baseball cards...the rip of the century..if I only had not traded them I could have made a little money today :(

The only problem with signed memorabilia nowadays is that if it doesn't come with a certificate of authenticity or if it isn't an officially issued card then it's not worth a lot because you can't prove that the signature is authentic.

People forge the signatures and ruin it for the real collectors.

Brett Hull's rookie cards worth dough, I got his rookie sticker, worth more.

Bunch of Premiere Jagr rookies n Fedorov rookies.

All those worthless ud rookies from Jagr to Fedorov........worthless now.

I got comics worth alot more than my hockey cards.

One day it'll all be worth 1000's.

I'll leave em' for the grandkids college fund.
