Round TWO...FIGHT!!! Colorado @ Vancouver

GAME: Vancouver Canucks (8-2-1) at Colorado Avalanche (5-4-1).

TIME: Saturday, 7pm PST.

If one round of booing Todd Bertuzzi wasn't enough, Colorado fans don't have to wait long for Round Two.

The Vancouver Canucks and Colorado Avalanche face off again Saturday night in the second of back-to-back meetings at the Pepsi Center.

The veteran winger was booed heavily in his first game at Colorado since the incident.

After recording a season-high six shots on goal and a minus-2 player rating Thursday, Bertuzzi had little to say about his return to Denver.

"Read into it. You're pretty intelligent. It is what it is. What am I going to do about it?" he said.

Colorado defenseman Brad May, who played with Bertuzzi as a member of the Canucks during the 2003-04 season, felt some compassion for his former teammate.

"Hey, we play professional sports. There's so much emotion," May said. "This was a great place to be tonight as an athlete. Booing. Cheering. Sometimes it's bad, sometimes it's great."

Veteran Pierre Turgeon scored twice in the win and is coming up on a milestone.

Turgeon's next goal will be the 500th of his career, placing him in an elite group with 33 others who have reached that mark. His second tally Thursday moved him past Glenn Anderson into 34th place on the NHL's all-time goal-scoring list.

Hall of Famers Lanny McDonald (500) and Joe Mullen (502) are next in line.

Among active players, Turgeon ranks ninth in goals and seventh in points with 1,284. The 18-year veteran signed to a two-year, $3 million contract with Colorado in August.

The teams will meet five more times this season, including matchups Nov. 27 and Jan. 28 at the Pepsi Center.

STANDINGS (through Oct. 27): Canucks - 17 points, 1st place, Northwest Division. Avalanche - 11 points, 2nd place, Northwest Division.

TEAM LEADERS: Canucks - Markus Naslund, 7 goals and 13 points; Ed Jovanovski, 8 assists; Bertuzzi, 19 PIM. Avalanche - Marek Svatos and Patrice Brisebois, 5 goals; John-Michael Liles and Alex Tanguay, 9 assists; Liles, 13 points; Laperriere, 29 PIM.

SPECIAL TEAMS (through Oct. 27): Canucks - Power play: 16.6 percent (15 for 90), 16th in NHL. Penalty killing: 76.1 percent (48 for 63), 25th in NHL. Avalanche - Power play: 25 percent (17 for 68), 4th in NHL. Penalty killing: 87.1 percent (61 for 70), 6th in NHL.

GOALTENDERS: Canucks - Dan Cloutier (5-2-1, 0 SO, 3.49 GAA); Alex Auld (3-0-0, 0, 1.94). Avalanche - David Aebischer (4-3-0, 0, 3.31); Peter Budaj (1-1-1, 0, 2.95).

SEASON SERIES: 1-1.

LAST MEETING: Oct. 27; Avalanche, 6-2. At Denver, Hejduk scored his 200th career goal and Aebischer made 40 saves as Colorado scored three goals in both the first and second periods.

ROAD/HOME RECORDS: Canucks - 3-2-1 on the road; Avalanche - 3-2-1 at home.

Will Cloutier redeem himself? That is to say if he starts. :mexitoke:

Canucks will win 5-2 tonight.

If they play anything close to how they played 20 whole minutes of last game against colorado they can win.

They MUST SKATE though. You all saw Sakic's goal that was just bad checking and letting your check skate right by you.

Now that I mention it the second or third goal for colorado was liek that too

We had this game and then we get all these fuckin' bullshit calls.

Colorado is the most crooked nhl team ever.

I dont care that m uch about the calls cause you knew they were coming and some of t hem were obvious penalties like the puck over the boards.

I say we need Bryan Allen back and get Steve Mccarthy off our damn team. What the hell kind of defensive play is that.

and its not his only one i've seen him get caught like that in so many games.

Offensive defensemen my ass he has one measly point and his defensive coverage is horrible.

Big respect to the 24 yr -old goalie AULD *applause please!* Without this guy making some unbelievable stops like leg spread save off a Hedjuk backdoor bandit shot, and a couple nice ones of Sakic and company, looks like Auld may make a great move to even earn the Number 1 netminder spot for the team! (just unfortunately Cloutier has been contracted for the number one spot). Too bad he stood no chance on the unfortunate offensive canuck cough-up Colorado breakaway goal.

ps> it is also bullshit we can't bring up Wade Flaherty from the minors! :(

^ ya that rule in the C.B.A is a joke.

Why should it matter what a player in the minor league's is making. That should not stop a good player from moving up to big leagues to furthur his career.

Dude, Cloutiers knees are rusty hinges.

A breeze could take out his knees.

Did you not see the replays where his leg is bent the opposite way and you can see the hinge pin pop out onto the ice !?

#2 I'll agree canucks are always getting beaten to the puck and most of the time its been 1 on 1 or 2 on 2 than one colorado player skates past his check and his home free.

Been the story of the back to back colorado games.
