I've always loved dogs. I've had so many, and lost them all :( I was young, and living in the Philippines. People don't really treat dogs as family there, just pets. And most dogs there are dirty.
Anywho. I'm in love with my ex-roommate's dog, Austin. He's a German Shepherd/Terrier mix. Too bad they're in TO now :( I miss them both. I loved how whenever I was feeling sad, or something was wrong, Austin would somehow know. He'd cuddle with me even when I was in bed. And he NEVER likes being touched in bed haha. Plus I love how he runs to the elevator and gets excited to see me :( I miss him.

The newest member of my family is a little pommeranian/chihuahua cross, as someone who has grown up around dogs like labs and bullmastiff's I really resented the idea of one of those little novelty dogs but she's totally grown on me.
 She is tiny and very, very affectionate...and suprisingly, really mellow too. I thought these dogs were totally high strung and yappy, but to be honest I hardly ever hear her bark. She kind of reminds me of a little cat because she loves to curl up and fall asleep on people's laps. ..of course, with smaller dogs I am totally partial to pugs, because they really are the cutest dogs ever. Male pugs are a good bet, because they are mellower- don't bark or run around a lot, they are actually a lot more 'chill' than the female breed, a good dog to curl up and watch tv with. Let's face it, chicks dig pugs. They are really clean and short haired, too. You should ask stabby about her little cutie, tofu. anyways, dogs rule.

i've had wiener dogs (dachshunds) cutest/best dogs ever!!!
well other than my dog now, but shes big, a rottie/shepherd... shes absolutely adorable, beautiful dog, easy to care for and gives infinite, unconditional love! i even take her into my apt. for weekends... if u live in a small place, and can walk the dog, this is a beauty.

Do some research and find out what kind of dog would be best suited to you, not per say just a small dog. Find out if it's a very attention needy dog, or if it needs to be walked 6 times a day and so on. My friend has a Blue Healer (Ausie sheep dog) and it needs to be run 2+ hours a day or it will drive you insane by being to hyper. Some big dogs are really mellow and don't need to run so much so maybe small isn't he way to go.

i want a dog more!
i would love to get a dog, i want one so much - when i moved here from Oz i had to give my dog to my sister. she was a golden lab, so very smart, the best companion.
tried looking for puppy friendly places when moving house recently, but as I am sure all you pet owners out there are aware, it is freaking impossible, especially downtown! and, i am definitely a big dog person which makes it even harder. but if i was to get one that is suitable for an apartment, did you ever see anything cuter than this? it's a puggle - pug cross beagle without the breathing problems of a pug, and got the intelligence of a beagle :) so cute! i also think labradoodles are super cute - smart like a lab, and non shedding like a poodle awwwww hehe

Matt, you should get a Havanese.
My dog is the cutest, smartest little devil out there! awwwwwwwwwwww look at the cute Maddie! these are her as a little puppy, max 3 months old. she's 7 months now and 14lbs and won't get any bigger. she's perfect size 'cause you won't accidentally step on her but you can still pick her up and carry her around!
